    Hi all,

Ha da bit of a nightmare today with my trusty Roland Camm1 pnc 1210 suddenly not tracking straight today, I have cleaned all the rollers ect and it is still wandering about like a skoda on a motorway at 100mph 😮 . it can loose 5mm in 2 meteres sometimes. Now i think i may need to get it serviced <ouch>, or if anyone has some good advice on what to try it would be more than welcome.

    Thanks Paul

And thats with the handbrake on 😆 😆 😆

I’ve absolutely no idea with the Roland though. Cunning plan though, bin it and buy another? 🙄 🙄 😉

    Cheers, Dewi

if i am right mate.. rolands knurled metal grip bar is not in one peice. i.e. solid single bar. its actual a bar with sleaves of knurled metal to sit were the vinyl is gripped by the pinch.
anyway.. what i am trying to say is.. these sleaves can work loose over time and really just need an allen key to tighten them but the cover etc must be removed first.
    before going to the bother.

lift the cover & move the blade holder out the road with the pinches up.
put one hand on each metal grip section and move back and forward with hands & see if you have any play. if you do it needs tightened and will of course stop the tracking running off.

this may not be the case, but worth checking and saving yourself a call out charge.

    hope it helps mate 😉

The rubber on the pinch rollers can become stretched and can cause the problems you`ve described.

You can buy new rollers from Roland for few quid.

Yep i have checked the metal rollers they are tight , but i have given them a good clean. The pinch rollers do look a little worn, i’ll call Roland on monday and order a set.

After cleaning the metal ones it is much better but not quite right.

I have also noticed that the vinyl holder at the back is not sitting square with the machine so after tracking out the loose stuff i pull off, once it then picks up straight off the roll it is then pulling it off as well,i’ll have to look and see how to re-align it .

    Thanks Guys

p.s does anyone have the number for rolands parts dept .

But ……. it tracks off even when rolled out 🙁 so i dont think it’s that.

It’s one of the holders that screwed to the machine so u cant adjust it.

Use the superior strength of your right arm to bend it square Paul 😉 😉 All that beer lifting will have paid off! 😀

When the tracking goes off, presumably its like when it skips, your cut ends up all over the place?

Hope you get it sorted out soon though 😕

This may sound like a daft question, but have you checked that the vinyl you are using is of a consistent width? Sometimes the rolls aren’t lathed cleanly and a variation can occur along the length. It’s just something to check before you start adjusting roll holders etc.
