  • can anyone tell me why coreldraw X3 is not working properly?

So, today Coreldraw has decided to do away with the minimise and maximise icons in the corner of the document. Then tonight it has decided that every time I select something and move it, it is going to make like a million copies of it on the screen.

    That’s a bit weird isn’t it.

Also, how do I fix it?

    Have you tried reinstalling it?

Could it be a fault with your keyboard? One of the keys stuck down or sumfin?

This sounds like a memory/register problem. If a reboot doesn’t solve the problem then it is likely that you have something corrupt in that file. Had something similar this week with X4 and only option was to open a new file and import the original cdr file back in.

there is a F7 type key startup… where you press an F key while it is starting up will ask you to reset corel… might not be the fix ur after and i cant remember which ‘f’ key it is. see my old posts

    Seems to be OK today.
I did try swearing at the screen yesterday but it didn’t work.

Computer’s been acting a bit odd for a while. I know it’s virus-free, so I reckon a rebuild is in order. It’s amazing how much cack you have to remember to back up before a re-format, isn’t it?

F8 is the start up key for resetting factory defaults. For X4 users who experience what appear corrupt files try this. Rename the cdr file with a zip extension, open the zip and you will see several files, try opening the ‘riffdata’ cdr. If it is one of the other components causing the problem than you may manage to salvage the drawing.

They do own Winzip so maybe not so surprising, try it and see what you get.

There is a script freely available sorting the dpi thing, can you give a bit more detail regarding active page.

yes, saw the script thing… just one of the most ‘known’ vba commands has changed without notice lol

I leave the vba scripting to those who know what they are doing so the active page command is not something I particularly know about. I am always pleasantly surprised at the added features that vba adds to Corel but I can’t help but think some of it would be good if it were in the programme to start with, I am not a coder so there may be good reasons.

    Hi Andy/all,
The same thing has happened to me regarding the minimise – maximise page buttons in coreldraw12. They seem to disappear every now and then but if you click where they should be it still works – strange.

It’s happened a lot lately but rectifies itself after doing a virus scan and disc clean up and reboot. Everytime I do a virus scan in Norton it finds a tracking cookie, I fix this but its back after a week or so. This is when the buttons dissapear but it could be a coincidence.

I’m also getting virtual memory low messages. Not sure whether its the cookie or the lack of memory that is causing this problem and i’m not sure about Norton either. My laptop at home comes up with a tracking cookie found everytime I do a scan.

BTW Norton says the tracking cookie isn’t harmful or no risk.
