can anyone tell me why corel wont open please?
Posted by Gary Birch on August 7, 2008 at 8:15 amHi all
We have just restarted one of our pc`s and now when we go to open Corel won`t open and a pop up comes up saying "Valid workspace file not found at path specified".I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the same happens.
What is this and how do I fix it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

It sounds like the shortcut to open the file has been corrupted. How are you trying to launch Corel – are you clicking on a desktop icon or are you launching it from your program files?
Try doing a search for coreldrw.exe – then double click the icon once found to launch it

Hi Phil
I have tried both ways but the same thing happens. I did install Easysign on this pc but Corel has worked since just not since the restart.I`m no pc buff and am completely stuck here. My pc man is in the Lake district too till next week and I can`t really wait that long.

F8 as Corel launches?
If you hold the F8 key down while launching the
application and keep it held down until you see a dialog box asking if you
want to reset things to factory defaults, you should be able to reset your
workspace to its default settings. -

Glad your sorted Gary, Workspace file gets corrupted can happen when you shut down Draw.
No idea why it happens, but if if does on a regular basis and you get other file problems I would suspect the drive. Don’t panic though It could just of been a one off freak…………computers gotta love em (:)

If we meet i`ll buy you a half for trying mate.

The workspace issue has been arround for the last 2 or 3 versions if not longer although I find X4 seems less of a problem, it is worth saving your workspace so you can import it after a F8 launch. If you have files than will not open even if Corel starts ok and other files open ok still try the the F8 start it seems to cure so many unexplained problems.

Thanks Alan I`ll try and remember that. Its the first time I`ve had a problem with it and hopefully will be the last.
Cheers
