    hi all,

knocking about (too much free time today) making a few pages of a brochure,

imagine if you will, in corel draw 12.

1 x A4page, i’ve used ‘texture fill’ on the whole page (samples 9, solar flare). on top of this, is mylogo, which included my name, with several opposing fades to make a chrome effect, some text at the bottom with a texture fill, and some text on top.

this all works nice, and prints.

the problem appears, when i import a jpeg of a car, i use the shape tool to get the contour around the vehicle right, and then fade it about 60% into the flare background, looks great thinks I,

this will not print. it tells me (once only) that colour manager cannot recreate one of the colours, so i print anyway, to see what happens. only one line of text contour prints, the rest is blank. it won’t even work with the jpeg on the screen, i have to remove it from the whole working area before it prints again.

can anyone tell me what i’m doing wrong please?

i wonder if perhaps, it’s because i used shape tool to grab the car, rather than properly cropping the image ? hoping one of you knows for sure.

    thanks in advance.
    Hugh

ps, my money’s on mr Drury! 😉

    edit.

have just imported the car jpeg into a new page, uncropped or shaped, put a texture filled box behind it, and faded the jpeg, it’s printed ok. 😕

Not sure if I understand the problem….but …convert to a bitmap?….or group them might help.

Try grouping it. If still no joy, put the corel graphic file on here see if anyone else can get it to work.

Saying that, I’m sure one of our resident gurus will know the answer straight off! 😀

If you can get the file to me I’ll have a look but first use power clip rather shape tool, convert that to bitmap cut to clipboard. I would duplicate the background, put it on the non printing desktop of Corel, convert the original to bitmap, send to Photopaint and add your car as another object, add transparency and combine with background. On close Photopaint should put it all back into Draw where you can add text. Try printing it now.
It depends on your printer but my guess is the file was too complex. Transparencies and effects can really balloon a files print size and simplifying it by combining the bitmap elements into one will help this. The duplicate on the desktop is there for you to alter at another time.

thanks guys, i’m following what’s been said.

just before i shot out, i closed all windows (corel) and emptied the clipboard (dunno how to do this manually), the re-opened the file, imported the jpeg, put it on the print desktop, faded, printed, no probs.

    wierd!!

    hi all.

done the majority of my new brochure today. i think the problem with it not printing (every so often), is down to the clipboard, i’m usung lots of imported photo’s, blending them etc, as well as al the text and so on.

i end up saving where i am, and closing down corel completely, before re-opening corel and the page, all is then ok. the more photo’s, the quicker the prob.

anyways, i need to test this theory, but i don’t know how to clear the clipboard without shutting corel down, could someone please take me through it!

    thanks.
