would be interested in this myself.

We dont have that version of signlab peter. i "think" the last one we bought was colour master 5.12 which we bought when we got our pc60 many moons ago now… the rest are all cut vinyl only.
we use troop rip, but it doesn’t come with the cut facilities and requires some import/export of some files before our printer does the cutting. its no big deal, but when it comes to me running a rpint job i just avoid contour cutting as i prefer "everything under one roof" so to speak.
we are contemplating buying a UV flatbed at signuk but also looking at upgrading our grenadier to a new model as this one is now 4 years old… new, faster models coming out now and as we own the machine outright now, its maybe better to look at trading it in against another or a different machine altogether. this being the case i would consider the flexirip package as i believe the troop is a watered down version of flexipro cut and rip. this being the case i then have same sort of software but with built in cutting facilities "all under the one roof" 😀

    Hi

I am using the new version. It is brilliant software very stable.

I bought the pro version. We have ordered the HP8000 will be arriving in mid JAN it has all the drivers and profiles. Will be interesting to see how it RIPs

As we are in Botswana my the printer supplier is 400km away on Johannesburg. They feel that they still want to bring a copy of Wasatch RIP. Just in case.. I personally don’t think they will need it as FLEXI seems very comprehensive.

There are a few things that i would like to have seen. They have improved the exporting and importing of files. PDF support is a great help. They have improved the desktop printing options. Also very nice.

I would just like to see a few more designing options. ie better bitmap editing. Things liek distort tools. Faded drop shadows etc. It still seems very much geared for spot like. I guess we will have to stick to corel and photoshop for the more advanced design tools.

Works very nice for vinyl cutting which you should expect if you pay that price.

All in all a great software that is very stable it hasn’t crashed once since ive had it.

Hi everyone finally got our printer last week.

Had some reluctancy from the guy who installed it when i told him that i was using flexi rip software. He was a bit arrogant and thought it would never work.
He arrived in the afternoon to install the machine got it up and running and wanted to test if flexi was actually able to send to the machine. Sent a test image and it printed. He then looked at the image and said all the oclours where wrong and said the profiling was not good. I then said to him what profile he used only to find that he never even put any colour correection so know wonder it printed wrong.

Anyway the next morning after the machine training i put in the same inmage to print . Used the profiles provided by flexi and voila!!! 😀 it printed perfectly. He was a bit taken back and finally admitted that it was actually (not that bad) :lol1:

He frimly belived that wasatch rip was the only rip that worked in the world.

We did further testing and we found everything to be great.

I have been printing on it fro the past week and a half and have had not problem. As long as you choose the right profiles and the right rendering intents. I must say that may monitor calibration is not bad but i will still want to but a proper calibration tool in order to get close colour matching.

Im very happy with the flexi rip although i have never used anything else before so i may not have anything to compare it with.

The main good point to me are i dont have to export files and re import them into the RIP which is a great time saver. Just design in flexi and click rip & print (as easy as that)

Also i do feel the the price i paid for flexi was very reasonable. For the equivalent of an extra US$600 it is well worth it especially if you are know how to design in flexi.

I did have one problem with some artwork that got imported from corel we went to print 4 times and it stopped printing about half a metre into the print. We put it down to the actual original file as i have printed many similar jobs without hassels. We redesigned the artwork and it then printed perfectly.

    Will keep you posted.

    Sorry to hijack the post.

Rob, if you upgarde version 5.0 Clourmaster it would go to version 8.0 Print & Cut. If you upgrade the Vinyl versions (I assume they are Expert?) they will go up to Vinyl Pro, which although Vinyl versions now have all the colour tools (plugins, bitmap & gradient fills etc.) They just don’t have the RIP.

    Hi guys and gals,

We took the jump, and bought FlexiPRo 8.5 upgrade and FlexiDesigner 8.5, first in our state!! (thats Western Australia), so support is not what it could be! but we will battle that one through with the supplier, as I am sure they will learn just as much as we will.

One thing I can say for now is, that it will install nicely on Vista Ultimate x64 with 4gb of ram on an Intel Quad.

I haven’t had much time to work on it, due to easter and all that, but I will let you know about our progress (if we make any)

    cheers

think you wont regret it. i really have enjoyed the software. still think i need to learn another software though for the more creative design work thinking about illustrator.

I was just testing over the weekend and sent a pantone colour to print onto PVC the match was perfect so i was really happy with that. at least the profiles work good.

    sorry another thing.

how do find the program runs when you smooth the edges of the artwork.

i found it to be slow and jumpy. I am running a dual core with 2GB or ram and a 128MB VGA card.

i saw you are use a much VGA spec machine does this fix the problem??
