  • can anyone tell me if i can use Pcut with Flexisign Pro 7?

Posted by luke_187 on February 18, 2007 at 5:14 pm

    Hi there

I have Flexisign 7 on my machine and have had no joy in setting up my Pcut plotter with the Artcut software provided.

When I go into the production manager within flexisign and setup a new device I can’t find anything listed for the PCUT.

I have seen that people on here use the Pcut with Flexisign so was wondering which option from the list of makes and models you use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated……I am in a right mess at the moment trying to get something going!!!! working it around my full time job is difficult as the helpline for the place i bought the plotter shut at 4 each day!!!

Hope somebody out there can help

    Kind regards
    Luke Taylor

Try contacting Scanvec who produce Flexi, I am sure they will have come across this problem before and will be able to help you.

It’s a pitty no Scanvec/Flexi representatives pop in here like Rod from Cadlink. Flexi seems just as prone to little quircks as other software.

    £3000 software program & a £300 Plotter? 😮

Graphtec distribute Flexi and obviously have lots of experience in Vinyl Cutters. Give them a call.

Seriously, there seem to be a lot of these PCut merchants asking similar questions on sign forums.

Is there a new wave of garage signwriters about to flood the market?

I’m not sure what is meant by your last comment there… i too, have recently bought a pcut, but i have been fortunate enough to have had NO problems with it whatsoever (although i have asked advice on which software to run etc).

We all have to start somewhere, and we cant all afford to pay several thousands of pounds. Personally, i have no intentions on taking trade away from my local signwriters, i’ve got into this for personal use and as a hobby. If i can make a few quid here and there making stickers for the boy racers and the odd van here and there, then maybe i’ll be able to treat my family to a holiday. I’m sure you can’t berate me that?

If i’ve taken your comment in the manner that it was not meant, then i apologise for the ramble! 😎

Darren I don’t thing Autosigns comments were aimed at you at all, if you read the post it is from someone who wants to know how to set up a plotter using Flexi pro software, there have been quite a lot of posts just recently by people who have just bought a cheap plotter to get them started and are asking questions about signlab and flexisign which are both software packages that cost a lot of money so it is unlikely they have purchased the software legally. These are the people who are upsetting some of the signmakers who have paid a lot of money for a legitamate software package.

The point is, this is a forum for professional signpeople, and others who are serious about signs as a business, anyway no Disrespect, we do try and help anyone, but it sometime goes against the grain to give advice to the "i want to make a quick buck merchant" yes we all have to start somewhere, but at least we should have the minimum requirements regarding knowledge and equipment before doing so.
Would you let someone with just a plentiful supply of hot water and towels and, just seen how its done, on the movies..deliver your baby?

see, told ya i’d take it in the wrong manner 😉 🙂 look what i’ve started, from a simple thread hijacking too!

Martin – completely understand the expensive software issue, and entirely agree with you there. I got my pcut from Signwizard and got Signblazer elements with it. its only £50, and does everything that i currently need it to. i have no doubts that i could have sourced a far more expensive package for less (or free) but a. that would be theft, b. would far surpass my needs or skills.

Peter – again, everyone has to start somewhere. These forums are fab, and everyone has been fantastic, theres a lot of knowledge on here and a lot of patience for us newbies. What would you consider as being the minimum requirements regarding knowledge and equipment?

seriously though… i probably shouldnt have responded to the post that i did, as i wasn’t sure how it was being aimed. i will say that i have really enjoyed creating the little bits and pieces that i have so far done with my machine. In fact, its far more enjoyable than my day job! I think that would be my creative side coming out. i’m not artistic, but i am creative, and i think this is bringing it out in me.

for now, my little ebay empire is more than enough. maybe, when i’m more experienced, i might just make the jump… 😉

    Hi
Just to clear something up, I have been given a copy of Flexisign by a family member who doesn’t use it anymore. I am just starting up and have been fortunate to be given this software although I don’t think I particularly need something this good, I may as well use one of the best if I can get it for nothing right?

My main use for the plotter and software will be for making and selling T-Shirts with my own designs on. Sorry if I caused some cafuffle with my post. I will continue trying to get the plotter working and apologise if I have ‘got anybodys backs up’

    Regards
    Luke

Are you just in search of the p-cut drivers so you can use flexisign? If so, send me a message.
