I have Corel Draw 11 and i find it’s great.
Recently I’ve been contacted by a Corel reseller that wants to sell me the X3 upgrade. It’s valuable? There are so many improvements?
Or, alternatively, he can sell a full version of CDR12.

    What do you suggest?
    -Keep CDR11
    -Take the CDR12 FULL
    -Take the X3 upgrade

    Hi Mapicco.

I never had Corel 11 but have had 12 and now have X3. Seem to recall though that there were minimal advantages to 12 over 11. X3 a very good improvement on 12 on bitmap to vector tracing, and probably worth getting for that alone if you do a lot of this – other bits improved too but others here can tell you what other advantages there are.

Would suggest therefore that you not bother with any upgrade to 12. As to whether you upgrade to X3 or not suggest you could also check the new features on the corel website to see whether you need them.

    Hope helps.

you will keep corel 11 anyway, you wont need to send it back.

Corel X3 is great and Corel 11 is too… There is positive and there is negatives, but as I deal with a lot of customer PDF’s etc, it is important to have the latest software so I can read PDF’s in. Corel 11 won’t read all the newest PDF formats.

X3’s tracing is a significant improvement as is node reduction. Countours are now beziers instead of loads of straight lines. Bitmap editing is improved as is the import and export filters. What particular features do you use?

its strange I use X3 for running my cadet machine as I find it great for dealing with digital printing, however I still use corel 8 for running my other pc with my 760mm cutter. Corel 8 is lightning quick compared to X3 but does all I need it to do.

On that note does anyone else have issues when starting up corel X3, takes an eternity which I find very annoying, my pc is very quick so not sure what the problem is?

    cheers

ps: I find the cutout lab and tracing facility on X3 very useful also

Smadia, try installing a postscript printer (any will do) and set as your default printer set to file, this may quicken things up on start up.
