  • Can anyone tell me about Cutter Master Software?

Posted by Edward on May 11, 2005 at 7:05 am

I’m a newbie at vinyl and after reading some of the threads I am wondering if I should complete my deal on this Mingke MK-1080 and the software that comes with it. The software is Cutter Master. Has anyone any knowledge on if it worth while? I am only interested in using this unit to make small runs of vinyl on 4’x8′ coroplast political signs. I’ll also use the cutter to cut my vellum to burn larger screens for screen printing. Needing input ASAP because I am scheduled to pick this stuff up this Thursday…
    Thanks,
    Ed

I personnaly think you would be better buying a secondhand “name” brand myself

Forbie, I have been looking for something somewhat affordable close enough to me that I could pick it up and even save on shipping. This is a 2004 model. It also is very affordable as I have an industrial sewing machine that I never use the guy wants in trade. It ends up costing me about $350 cash. Seems to me it will be hard to beat that price for a 42″ cutter especially new…

I know by my research I could be owning a little known model but is it possible this is a good enough deal to learn more about vinyl cutting and move on to a better machine as I find more demand in my marketplace?

What kinds of problems might I face with a decision to own this machine?
    Thanks

I dont know how much your industrial sewing machine is worth, but as your not actually spending alot of cash it might be worth getting this vinyl cutter, I would also prefer to get a named make as at least you know you can get spares and support if something goes wrong.

    JEM,

I haven’t used this sewing machine since I paid around $450 for it 4 years ago. It may be worth a bit more but they are bulky and shipping is punitive so not a very shippable item. This deal just works out that I get rid of a machine I am not using with a trade in value of $350 toward his sale price of $700 to allow me to own a 2004, 42″ cutter in excellent condition for $350 out of pocket cash today.

I can’t hardly turn it down but it doesn’t decrease my concern that I can find little information on such a new machine. The seller knows virtually nothing about it but says they have had no problems. He says the software etc. is just more complicated than they can figure out and it is larger than they need.

I am thinking that this machine is possibly sold under a different name and if I could post a picture one of you experts would recognize it…

It’s funny to me that all the machines advertised online have little bitty pictures that one can hardly tell much about the small details and design of each machine to compare them to each other. Some close ups of controls etc. might help identify who made it…

I have pictures of this machine I can email if anyone is interested enough in helping to look at them.

    Thanks
