can anyone suggest suppliers of screenprinted cd’s?

we dont actualy do it for anyone. but we have one. its a "seiko precision 4000"
prints direct onto the cd. 1200 dpi i think its at. looks great when done. very profeesional looking rather than the labels etc.

Do you know much they cost? We had a look at a cd printer about 18 months ago but the output was cr*p.

we are paying over 4 quid per cd at the moment printed. Considering cd’s are less than 30p each, printing is costing us bundles.

I think the screening and sublimation would probably work but you would probably be better with a label maker kit then.
I think it?s more images and detail that?s needed to have a professional looking disk.
Im not downing the method by any means its just an opinion but then again I have never seen it done like you have suggested so I may be wrong.

We bought our printer from a guy that?s a good friend of hours. He has very good prices also. But I bet you could probably get them on the net. And at a good price.
There are a few models on the go. They can range from about £200 – £2000
It?s all down to quality and speed. We can print 2 disks at a time but have only done it with one. Only takes about a minute or so to print it. Quality is great and they look great. If you are wanting to print thousands ide say go to a press shop for CDs.
If you want to print them as you sell them then this is a good method.
The one we bought cost about £600-£700 we also bought high quality un-branded printable disks. This is a must as the must have a porous surface.
Again you can buy these disks on the net for about 40p or less depending on how many you buy.

The set-up of the thing is tricky but very easy if you do it for a bit. Like anything I suppose. Comes with its own software also.

Another thing it can do is print on CD business cards. These are exact same size as a card but have about 50 mega-bytes on it. You can put a demo of your software on it or pictures of your work complete with intro etc. you then print your name and details complete with logo and images. So when you hand someone your business card its no longer a reminder it?s a selling tool. Excellent to show previous work and customers to a new client.

Thanks for that Rob, the printer sounds like the best option. As i said we did look at some a while back, it sounds like the print quality is better now than it was then. The business card thing sounds good as well.

There are a couple of CD printing machines up on Ebay at the moment. They come up under a search for printers. One is the Seiko Precision like Robert recommended. Worth a look.
