Help please……I need to recreate this logo to sublimate onto hi-vis vests

My main problem is I don’t really know how to use Corel except for very basic creating & cutting text….VERY BASIC TEXT:oops:

The font I’m going to use is Bodoni MT Black but I need to create the left hand/bottom shadow/outline? :you:

& can anyone recommend some on-line learning sites or is it down to WH Smith to get X3 for dummies 🙄

    Thanks
    Neil

I’m pretty much a Corel dummy but here is how I’d do it.
Type text- convert to curves- combine-outline it.
The break it apart, make the outline white, copy the original, and stage it behind the outline. Then you can use as is or trim it to fit the outline, and delete the outline.
Might help to do it in wireframe.
Hopefully someone else will have a better explanation.
    Love….Jill

Create the text and rotate it.
Then duplicate it 2 times – change 1 to white.

Layer them so you have black / white / black. ( Maybe easier to use yellow instead of the white so you can see it) in the positions you want.

    Convert the text to curves.

Once you have them positioned Select the white text, goto arrange / shaping / shaping / from the docker select Trim then select the lower black text.

It should cut a segment from it.

You can then break apart whats left if you need to get rid of anymore.

This may be all Greek Neil as there are various way to achieve what your trying to do.

Hope it helps – as for books – just play with simple shapes and simple functions then build on it.

    Tim.

why is everyone converting to curves?

    type text,
left click on text (keep hold), when in position just right click to duplicate.

press ctrl>D and it’ll duplicate another (one step away)

move the top text out the way, click on the 2nd layer, Arrange>shaping>weld

select both sets of text, the Arrange>shaping>trim (or use the little icon in the task bars).

remove the 2nd layer text and discard.

if done right, you’ll have a trimmed 1st layer, now move the top/3rd layer back into position and it’ll look exacly like you have.

in practice it’ll take around 30 seconds to do.

I’m not sure why everyone is even trimming ??

this is to be printed isn’t it….. so it just needs duplicating and the centre ‘J’ turning white

    doesn’t it? 😳

If you dont like Corel just create the shadow in your preferred signmaking prog and export it as curves/outlines as a .cdr/.ai file, open it in corel.
    Job done. 🙂

Yup quite simple an no need to convert to curves…………..
Type font in 1 line inc the Ltd then adjust the size.
Copy and paste the text and adjust the required off set for the shadow
Give each a different colour fill for ease of differentiation.
On the top copy apply a white contour outline
Now change the fills back to black……….

Job done, all that is left is to add the ellipse and rotate it.

No need to trim, weld or any other combine feature as its to be printed.
