Hi all 😀 having problems with a brand new Roland GX 24, it’s cutting circles in a jagged style, this is on text as well as any radius. The supplier of the machine reckons it’s the cutting strip, but I think he’s talking out of his arse! I’m cutting through Corel Draw 12 and it’s driving me crazy 👿 👿 👿

Is the cutting strip worn through at all, Peter?

Try spraying a bit of WD40 into the blade holder. Often helps, and keeps the blade swivelling nice and freely.

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

What does your supplier say is the issue with the cutting strip? Surely a brand new machine should not have any issue such as this.

John or Dawn? the supplier suggests that I buy new cutting strips as this may be the problem. I told him I would do this if he would refund the cost if this was the problem. He told me that he would not. I feel that as this machine is brand new it is up to them to sort out, and if he doesn’t then I shall reveal the supplier and tell all. 🙄 🙄

What kind of warranty do you have with the machine?

This machine should have a 3 year warranty, so use it, but first check:

Is the output from corel made up of straight lines or is it correct?

Is curve smoothing on or off? I’ve seen this cause problems with some software.

Run the cutter’s built in test cut sequence (not the blade test cut).

Luke the machine in question went back to the supplier and had a software upgrade, all is ok.

    Thanks Peter!

I had the engineer out for 2 days and he replaced many parts of the machine, but it’s not right yet – have another engineer coming thursday – so hope to get this sorted ASAP.
