  • can anyone help with pump & tubes on cadet please?

Every time i run a medium or heavy head clean, the tube carrying the black waste ink from the pump "pops" apart from the join and hey presto i’ve got a puddle of black ink EVERYWHERE i mean everywhere. This has happened for two weeks running now. It feels and sounds like a build up of pressure. Now i have to physically hold the join together to stop them splitting, even then you can feel them being pushed apart.
There’s no dried ink at the waste end of the tube which would cause a blockage. So all i can think, maybe there’s air being drawn somewhere, or an airlock. This is also causing banding in the blue when running a full width, full colour print test . Ideas anyone???????????

Bit of a sticking point there rob. Not going to mention the supplier as i dont think it’s what the boards are about. Even though i would like to. Most of you have probably heard of him anyway. But i bought the cadet when it was supposed to be 6 mths old with a days training, and 6mths service agreement.

I have asked the supplier for an engineer on two seperate occasions, but he insisted it be done over the phone. Which it was. No problems.

The machine has pretty much run without a hitch ever since. Until about two weeks ago. I have spoken to someone from b+p to see if i was on the their records. But guess what! Sorry Mr Rhoades weve never heard of you before and theres nothing showing on our system!!!!!

At the time of purchase i never thought of asking for paperwork for the warranty. I think the excitement of a new machine numbed my senses a bit.
I,m about to start a service agreement with b+p. It just makes sense.
So theres my run down on my cadet. So for now i would be grate full for some good advice for a fix to this problem. Dont get me wrong tho. Theres not a huge loss of quality. But enough to annoy me.Cheers Matt

ill have a think and also ask andrew as he runs our machine daily. we took out service contract too recently. as you said, it makes sense. its damn expensive but when you consider the things that can go wrong, the down time of your machine etc it suddenly becomes acceptable. im not helping you here but i know how you must be feeling, expensive kit and a sore head from banging it against a wall. :headbang2:

sounds like the joiner need replacing matt. It sounds a simple fix but they use a ‘special’ plastic for that joiner from what I’m told. I think they go soft over time. Thats when they pop. My service guys have always replaced the joiners everytime they service the pumps. Perhaps that one got missed last service?

i could do with some joiners too and some solvent pipe but haven’t spent any time yet looking… i got a jv3 and have to be careful around that area of the machine… you can accidently cause a spillage and if it gets near circuit boards then you can destroy them with solvent ink.

    Thanks gents.
I replaced all the joiners when i replaced the pump about 4 mths ago. I have a funny feeling its something to do with the pump again. When running a head clean the red tube empties as normal, but the black tube pulsates when emptying, you can see it expanding and contracting, as the pump is operating. And the ink empties slower than the red. mmmmm. Does anyone know what profile i should use in troop for oracle banner digital semi-gloss?
    Thanks again guys
