process a Graphtec Cutting Pro FC4100-130. It’s running from Omega
V2.5 …. it connected to the Com Port and then in turn to the serial port
    on the plotter ……

I’ve sent a job and the spooler says it’s active but the plotter is just sat
there not doing a thing …eek !! … any ideas where i can start ???

    cheers !!

    Hi Adrian,

We run a Graphtec FC5100 with Omega, and also had some communication issues.

Why don’t you call my mobile tomorrow and maybe I can help.

    🙂

    Adrian,

Serial is a great connection as it can be used over quite long distance, the down side is that all cutter manufacturers use different pin outs. I have just changed from a Summa to a Graphtec and the Graphtec would not work, same symptoms as you described.

I phoned Graphtec UK and tech suppport gave me the correct pin out over the phone, i modified the lead and it works fine.

There are other settings on the PC and cutter that may need changing but you do need to get the lead pinout from Graphtec and test with meter first as the other settings are normally standared.

    Russell.

Spoke to Graphtec .. and yes indeed, needs to be a ‘special’ Serial cable.
Just about to order a new one … they’re only a few quid.

Thanks for your help … will have to have a catch up soon Neil. 😀

    Hi Adrian,

I agree – we needed to buy the lead from Graphtec for it to work correctly.

Incidently have you tried running it through a USB lead?
The Omega is supposed to run Graphtec plotters through USB but I think there were some issues with the software and we weren’t able to get it to run so we stuck with parallel. 🙂

I think this plotter is a bit on the ‘old side’ as it doesn’t have a USB port 🙁
Would have been the perfect solution. Hopefully the lead will be here by
Monday as we’ve had to order an 11 metre long one !!! 😮

Then all we have to do is get me connected to the Summa plotter and
    we’ll be all sorted. :lol1:
