you are probably driving it from the parallel port.

the plotter can only talk to the computer by serial or usb.

or something i dont know in sl

    I dont believe a CE1000 has a USB port.
Are you using a USB to serial cable to connect your serial plotter to a USB port on your computer?
    This should work fine.

I myself use a USB to serial cable and have full bidirectional communication. I Use it constantly with our FC7000,FC5000 and CE5000
Page size works and plotter ID work.

Are you using a HPGL driver or a GPGL driver.
May not work with the GPGL.

What happens when you press Get Page Size of Plotter ID in Signlab.

Found we also have a CE 1000.
It doesnt have a USB port.
Connected it to a computer via a USB to serial cable.
Both Plotter ID and Get Size seem to work fine.

What exactly happens when you try?
Do you get an error message?
    Crash?
    Error on the plotter?
    Incorrect return value?

I cant see a problem here at our end.
