  • can anyone help with installing corel onto redsail plotter?

Hi all, I’m a newby here, just getting into vinyl cutting in a small way.

Setup here is Corel 12/Redsail 800mm width HPGL (Com Port 1) Plotter/Cutter and umpteen 10mt by 210mm rolls of vinyl.

Just wondered if you might take me under your wing/s with a little help.

I designed a test piece in Corel 12, an extra large number plate in fact, just text and numbers.

Everything setup for A4 Portrait, lettering size is 300, layout size is 210mm x 600mm.

I have ticked "Print Tiled Pages" in Corel’s print layout, so the program works out that it will need four A4 pages, end to end, to get my design onto, so far so good.

When I click "Print", the plotter goes into action, plots the first and second letter/numbers OK, but then goes stupid and plots the next TWICE, Bahhhhhhhhh.

It seems that any letters that lay across any of the horizontal top/bottom "Printable Area" guidlines (In Print Preview Mode) get printed again, or twice.

So at the moment I’m stuck. Not sure what to alter or do to get rid of this problem.

Thanks for reading my first post, hope it sort of makes sense and some kind soul might help.

    Thanks again

Not sure regarding tiling as I let SL take care of that but you can alter your page size to the actual size of your job/plotter. Corel has a page size capability of about 100 ft.

Set the page size in Corel to the size you want, not familar with your cutter but make sure layout is same size there to.

Lots of people here can help, lets hope you get sorted.

I have never cut directly from corel but I use Whisqu Signcut, in that program you can get double cuts if you have one cut for the coulour and one cut for the outline.
Try to check "no outline" with the outline tool.

    Thanks guy’s,

I finally got round the problem.

Reading Mats reply, I’m now doing the artwork in Corel or Illustrator and cutting with Signcutx2, it supports my plotter.
