Does it bring a box up that says Outside/Inside/To Centre and a measurement number and the big apply button?
    If so, just press Apply

You may have to convert to curve (arrange / convert to curve)

Asuming it is a vector you want to put the contour on – If you experience functions in Draw that just do not work or items greyed out when should not be or general inexplainable behaviour it might be worth resetting your workspace as this can sometimes get corrupted. To do this close Draw and reopen with the F8 pressed, you will be prompted to accept the default workspace, if you have a customised workspace it is worth saving this first and you can import it after the reset.
I’m not saying this will necessarily sort this proplem but it is surprising how many it does correct.
On another note contours in V12 are made of hundreds of small straight lines, this has changed in X3 with contours being Beziers, a great improvement if resizing.

another thing to consider, be sure you havent got items grouped together, you have to sperate them first, or if you need a contour around the whole thing, i highlight the lot, drag to one side and right click to duplicate (copy) the image, weld the whole image together, then apply your contour, seperate, then place the contour behind the original design.

    make sense ? lol

Not So. In V12 and X3 grouped objects can be contoured.

i conceed ! my mistake, i guess i should said that you’ll have to ‘group’ them, as ungrouped, but seperate layers that are highlighted together, cannot be contoured. 😀

On a similar note – I personally found that V12 needed resetting a few times using F8 throughout the 18 months or so I used it and although X3 seems better it still needs a periodic reset this is normally after a series of crashes normally brought on by importing files with ‘dubious perantage’.
It is also worth noting that even though you can import a workspace from a previous version starting from scratch is normally more reliable in the long run.
Anybody finding quirky behaviour F8 is a good start.
If you are having particular problems with X3 post them there, there may already be a fix/workround or if I can reproduce it each time I will pass it on, maybe to the News Group or others.
