  • can anyone help with corel and font issues please?

    Heres my set up:

basically I do all my design work etc on my office or home pc on corel 8 or 12. Then take the artwork on disk/hard drive to my my small workshop approx 10 miles away,

The machine I use there has coreldraw and co cut. Sometimes when I try to open the artwork i have saved there are font issues ie: the fonts are replaced with substitutes, Im sure I had read if you "select all" and convert to curves then there should be no issues? can any kind person out there confirm this to be the case!?

or is the other option to save all the relevant fonts I need and import them into my workshop pc?

    cheers in advance

If you convert the text to curves you will no longer have any issues however you will no long be able to edit them either.

Make sure you have the same fonts on all your computers, then you should have no problems.

    Hi Graeme,
You have answered all your own questions! Yes if you convert to curves then there is no need to worry about fonts. However it might be useful to take the relevant fonts with you in case you need to retype anything. I have a similar problem as I desing alot at home and take files to my workshop to produce, the only difference is , my workshop is only across the courtyard :lol1:

you can select all, or just group the whole outline then convert to curves.

Once the conversion is done tho, you can not go back, so make sure the artwork is saved as xxxx_converted.cdr so if you have to go back to the original to make changes, you don’t have the problem with fonts.

Personally, I do sopmething similar, but I save all the fonts I use on the CD too, so if I don’t have them at work, I can always reinstall them.

    Cheers

yes i can be a pain but every now and then i cross copy the font dir across the 4 pc on the network.

if you did convert the art work to curves then if there is a font issue ok it the art work should not be affected but the file still carries the name of the fonts used but the art work should be ok
