there are a few reasons you can get banding mate. im not clued up enough to give you tech support but… there are really simple solutions to banding.. lets say this one for a start.
your using a full log of vinyl. its heavy and not 100% round (rugby ball hsape) the machine pulls the roll very accurately the exact lenght to compensate print head. BUT! the roll is that little tougher to pull because of shape and weight. so pulls as it should but not far enough and causes a dark ovelap.. small.. but enough for a band to show…
this is one i had a problem with.. its not machine problem. more media problem… but.. we, like you were right on the phone saying the machines faulty….
i think i have called b&p 5 times with problems. each time i found out it was ME that was doing something wrong and it now runs perfect!

i am not by any means saying your to blame. i just mean its a new machine, lots to learn and get our heads round while making money.
i hope all is well with your machine..
im still cobsmacked with what i can do with ours. last week we sold £800 in small stickers alone.. only took about an hour or two to do them all in small batches. we never could have done this before…

If it doesnt print a colour and its severly banding , its most likely a head thats gone or is faulty or is very dirty? Dod you have a head strike recently (where the head hits the media?).
The Test print function will show you immediately if a head or any nozzles have gone or which set of heads are affected. It could be a pump too or an airlock in the system. the machine should have a clean cycle (for actual physical cleaning the bits and pieces , normally you power on the machine while pushing the cleaning button. Take the covers off and inspect thwe pieps leading to the heads , cheack that they all seem to have fluid in em , that should rule out a pump or airlock problem.
You have a power cleaning function under head cleaning , try that. If not then do a full flush , you should have solvent flush cartriges with the machine (read the manual and make damn sure you are using the correct flush , I dont think an eco-sol ink flush is the same as solvent ink flush) if all that doesnt work , well the tech guy is the next step.

    HiyaRob
In terms of feed calibration etc , you have 2 choices , software or hardware. Now the profile for a particular media will often have a feed calibration factor built in , but it Might be off for your machine.
Best way to absolutely minimize banding , which plagues just about all larger format digital printers (and desktops)a low rez and high speeds, is this
    1) do an environmental calibration whenever temps etc change
    2) Do a manual menu driven calibration check and disable calibration in software (if you can) and let the calibration default to what you set on the machine
    3) do a bidirectional calibration
    4) always do the above when the machine is up to temp
    5) Roll out the media rather than let the machine drag it

Now further to that here are the rest of the “tips” , however all these solutions will hit production speed

    6) change from bi directional to uni direction
    7) Up the resolution
    8) Try a little more ink loading
    9) slow down head speed
    10) increase time between passes
    11) Set the head to scan the full width and not just the media width or the graphic width
    12) convert the graphic to a bitmap if its vector
    13) lower temp a little
    Also
    14) make sure your rollers and grit rollers are clean
    15) store the media in a nice damp free place
Finally , there is some vinyl or other media that will always band no matter what you do.

high guys thanks for the reply,we are always up for some help and always willing to listern to advice from who ever ofers it,,right where to start 🙄
rob : in respect of your answer about the media,,,we have been trying to print onto white static cling which comes in 1 metre lengths and have this problem with the banding,
we have had quite a few problems since having the machine although as you rightly said with a new machine it is a learning curve,,,b&p have in all fairness to them been excellent with the technical support over the phone,
as ive posted before we done work with it and had excellent results, unfortunately we have to do it all again when the machine is sorted cos we were supplied the wrong media but that another story,,,anyway,as rodney posted cleaning and pipes
we have done a powerful clean along with checking the piupes for air locks,we have done a head soak over night as told to do by b&p.then another powerful clean ,,,there were No air in the pipes there has been now a full set of inks installed just incase that was the problem,,,but we still have the same results,,,,,,so at the moment we will have to wait till tuesday and i will keep you all posted as to the outcome…hopefully a good end to this ,,,hope so ive a guy shouting at me to cover his jeep in rocks :lol1:
