Andrew, I presume you have some media loaded?.

it sounds like your Y axis sensor is broken. The carriage is moving slowly trying to find the position of the pinch roller.
If you go into the menu’s you can disable the Y axis sensor. Then when you start up you can press roll 2 and you should be able to carry on.
The option to disable the sensor is in a different place on different models, which graphtec plotter do you have?
It will be easier to phone one of our engineers on 01978 666700 and they will be able to talk you through it in minutes

Phil its a graphtec cutting pro fc5100-130 this is what happens when i switch cutter on.
v1.31hl 1920k OK then load media & initial menu appears (i then load vinyl) & close rollers then i get the option roll 1 roll 2 or sheet if i press any of them the cutter head moves to the right stops and the travels very slowly to the far left and alarms.
if menu is pressed in auto pre feed press f4 menu changes to DISABLE/ENABLE
initial feed speed – options are NORMAL/SLOW
interface options are RS232C/comand
i am using the usb port
is there any way to restore the factory settings -
sorry to hijack this post.
my signjet pro jx1130 does this when i load reflective so have to hide it with some application tape once its set up its happy to continue. so where do i find this switch of bit in the menu please.

I would do as Phil suggests and ring Graphtec direct, its probably something very simple that can be sorted with a short chat.

Hi Andrew,
Sounds like the pinch roller sensor has had a knock, it is located underneath the pen block , if you look from the rear of the machine at the pen block you will see a small green pcb with a black sensor on it , thats what has been damaged.
Give us a bell if you would like it repaired.cheers
