Could anyone advise when I exit cutting preview window the file I am working on ends up on the top left of the screen zoomed right out & the warning illegal zoom comes up

I’ve never seen such a thing. Can you elaborate on the sequence of steps that led to the warning? After the warning, what happens if you press [F7] to Zoom Selected?
What version and build of SignLab are you using? You can check by going:
Help menu >> About SignLab >> press ‘ R ‘ >> make note of Major, Minor, and Build
It only occurs after I have just cut a job and want to go back to the workspace I am also using signlab 4.95 and have been for a number of years so I am familiar with signlab
I know what you mean and I have got round this by placing a ‘return to previous view’ icon on my toolbar. I think what you describe has been mentioned on the SL forum – I hope it gets fixed assuming it’s not designed that way.
