  • can anyone help please with letter outline Corel Draw 12?

Posted by Chris Theakstone on December 8, 2006 at 7:47 pm

Hi, Having just changed plotter and now cutting direct from Corel i am struggling to reproduce the same letter outline as I did in Winpc sign.
i can creat the outline around the letter (a 4mm outline 4mm from the letter) using the contour tool but want the corners "clipped" or even rounded which I can’t seem to be able to achieve.
As always very gtateful for any hints and tips.

    Hi
If you select your text and press f12 it brings up the box with all the options for outlinging , in there you can change everything , colour , size, corners etc.

    Cheers

Thanks lee, but it dosen’t have any effect. What I am doing is using the contour tool, creating two lines around the letter 4mm away and 4 mm apart to give a cut letter with a 4mm outline around it it is this 4 mm outline that i would like to change the corners on.

    Cheers Chris

    Hi Mate
I’m not up on that really , there is a guy on here called Andy Gorman who seems to know a bit about corel.

You’ll need Coreldraw X3 to get a radiusing tool. It’s called ‘Fillet’ in X3. I used to use ver 12 and I am sure it doesn’t have this feature. The only other way you could do it is to use the pen tool with a round corner and then "convert outline to object". You will have to delete some unwanted bits though.

Thanks Andy and everyone, I got around it by drawing it all up in Winpc sign then exporting it as an AI into corel then cutting it phew ! a bit long winded but got there.

    Cheers chris

Fillet tool works well in X3, I also have a macro here that does rounding etc to contours.
