nik, ide call the support guys at b&p, i know when you just get the machine you feel reluctant to or use it as last resort but these guys know their stuff and can have you out a pickle in jig time. thats what you pay for anyway, so use it while its free 😉

just call and ask to get put through to technical support.

It works as the versacamm then?! It’s truly amazing that such a small detail can stop all the work flow from a sign shop, just so many things to think about that it’s even more amazing we ever achieve anything!

Glad you sorted it in the end Nik,
    Cheers, Mark . 😀

    hey nic,

I’m getting my new cadet on Wednesday

quick question – do you find it easy to use from Coral? i use coral 99% of the time so if its easy enough i will not bother upgrading my sign lab that i hardly use

    any tips would be great

    thanks

    Hi Roy.

I use Corel all the time for my cadet artwork, works fine. The main problem is saving the special contour cut colour as a spot colour other wise it won’t work.

    hi folks 😀

steve i can cut fine in illustrator..but corel wont….i have done what you have mentioned…but the hairline automatically goes to black….instead of my chosen colour magenta 😕 im not a fan of corel…but i have gotten used to it since using my pc60, i hate using illustrator 😮 but at least it works 😀

I’m i right in saying that the cutter only recognizes a magenta outline to cut??

i use a Roland camm cutter and use the same way to cut on that – magenta outline 0.001mm

also does it print what it sees ie: closeness to co lours on screen??

    Question, questions

no roy you can pick any colour as your outline..i just always use magenta from the pc60 cutting 😀 and i use red on illustrator 😕

i have not had a problem with my colours yet 😕 im exporting my files from corel as eps straight into the rip, so far so good 😉

funnily enough..i have been, i thought the cadet would be sitting for a bit, but it has been going everyday doing things from digi images and today done for a friend..24 a4 menus for a pub..before they would have taken and cost a fortune screenprinting them..but what i love about the cadet is, i programmed the whole lot in, away it went (without also the worry of..oh my god how much is this going to cost me) when i was using the pc60 :lol1: then i got on with cutting a couple of signs while the cadet was running fab!! 😀 i just love my new cadet 😉 oh and it’s quiet 😀

that’s what i wanted to hear nik, i am a bit worried that is was gonna be sitting idle for a day or two but Ive been taking in jobs every day now since i ordered it, mainly for flags ( as i also sell flagpoles ) these were being made for me by another company which cost a fortune,

i think its a bold move to invest in this kind of equipment but what the hell i say as long as your using it for day to day things it has a place.

are you going to keep you p60 or sell??? Ive got a p600 that’s not been used for a week o two now and i dont know what to do with it??

i actually got rid of mine within hours to another member on the boards 😀 who bought it for the same reason as myself…to get a start in digital printing, and i thought the pc60 was fab 😀 still do for small sticker print & cut runs…the quality of thermal is still very good 😀 compared to the menu’s i did today… a bit iffy.. but i put that down to trial and error with me & machine just now 😉 if i was you just keep it 😀 i bought a graphtec 1200 cutter also…but im glad i still kept my wee reliable roland camm 1, it was going at the same time as the others the past two weeks 😀 when are you getting your cadet roy?

Hi folks.. it me! last 48 hours been mad and finally our JV3 is back on the road printing in hi-quality yay… i post in the head pic thread in a mo.

couple of comments while I am reading back thru posts…

Roy, u mentioned Flags… we have flag-material here but solvent printers don’t prints flags very well. Dye sub/Mimaki TX can print them at hi-quality. The material bleeds a fair bit with Solvent. Pinch roller assembly may be a problem on thin materials, may buckle the print but not sure what a Uniform will do. Double sided is another issue, we try and just stick to logos without text in it, so they don’t show thru the other side.

Nik, great that a printer becomes the central point of the sign production, makes things a lot easier and gives a nice finish, certainly made a difference with us 5 years ago and opened up a lot of customers to us. Our Gerber Edge just sat idle as it was just too expensive compared to the solvent printers. However A4 menus, not something we have done as it would be a little tricky, most go litho or ProntaPrint digitial shortrun printers, not sure how card would perform with solvent was it any good?

i actually made the menus out of rigid pvc…cant remember thickness, but i flood coated in 751, one side only, and applied printed & cut graphics to inside of menu, seperated…so if they have a menu change, i only print that particular panel 😀

    nice one nik.
Yeah, I can see that being more effective result. Also makes the product look more expensive.

Goop, make a note of the dates and times you speak with them, keep records of what they ask u 2 do.

The heads have waranties, so the supplier should move regardless. Soaking the heads will make some difference, the fluid will loosen the dampers up as well.
If no immediate results… ring em again.
