Hi Richard,
Very simple she has a 1MB file she should go In the top menu bar choose IMAGE < IMAGE SIZE < Then she will see lots of options to look at first
The RESOLUTION must be @ 300dpi < UN TICK RESAMPLE IMAGE < TICK ALL THE OTHERS.
Go to DOCUMENT SIZE AND RE SIZE TO WHATEVER NEEDED.
Then go back and tick the resample image and Click in the resolution box and put it up 200dpi or 150dpi or 300dpi donβt go above cos there is no point of it.
SAVE AS your file just in case they need to go back and change something . They might need to blur a little or clean up the image.

hi everyone, if this is just pure photo that is going to be outputted via a RIP to a Uniform or Mimaki :lol1: JV3 and nothing more then re-sizing is required then do everything in the RIP… not photoshop etc.
Infact today, we are printing something lo-res about 75dpi style onto banner, I looked closely at it and it was fantastic interpolation.
The RIP upsizes things… so within your RIP you should get it to do all the hardwork… If I had a photo of 1024×300 pixels, just resize in Corel designer program or use rip… dont re-sample.
-
Dave If someone doesn’t know Photoshop how in the name of god are they gonna know the rip does it lol
I think photoshop if professional resizing and cleaning up the image before sending job to print and thinking its will come up good. then say oh my lord
-
Oh My Nancy π
You gave sound advice.. i read it after I posted.. whoops.
But then again he did say “she can print at bigger size” i guess on home inkjet. So, then you could use Windows XP slideshow stuff as there is a print button in XP and then Fit to page etc.
-
Dave my Dave
still fit to page stuff is so not not professional resizing buddy. lol -

Hi Richard
Not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but for a quick tip on upsizing a photo in photoshop, go to image>image resize change pixel dimensions to % and increase in steps of 10% this increase your size and still keeps a reasonable resolution when upsized, but it must be in steps of 10-15%.

Same as Dave at that res just take it into flexi Colour rip or Signlab and make it the size you want then mask or clip it

Hi Nancy, I’m fine thanks. Do you like my photo, I’m a bit washed out I’m afraid – some say I’m as white as a sheet!! π
Speak soon, Spooky
PS: By the way, I decided to go down the CS2 route, I like what I’ve seen so far but it is difficult to find the time to play around with the software and really get to know it. A graphic design mate said he would come over and give me some quick tips which will be helpful.
However, I have discovered that at present I can’t print out of CS2. I can send stuff elsewhere ie Sign Lab and print out that way, but whenever I go to print directly from CS2 it won’t have it? I get a message that justs says something like ‘Cannot print this file’ or words to that effect? I’m sure it is just a setup problem but I can’t seem to solve it at present, even though I’ve tried changing some of the settings in Print Setup – still no good. I only need it to print out the odd proof on a little Dell Inkjet from time to time, so if you have any ideas I would be most grateful. Many thanks, the Spookster.

That does sound a bit suspect! you would think she would be an expert in such software lol

well as long as ive been in da biz, resolution is important, especially when you size anything up. Rule is: if you size up you lose resolution. Any image that has 300 dpi can usually be blown up about 400% before it starts pixelizing. AND you cant fool the printer, you can plug in any resolution you want but the printer will know what the original resolution was and the parimeters that were set prior to enlargement.
There are pixel building software out there that can add pixels, but they’re only so good, so far. They do help though, when in a pinch….
good luck,
