Have downloaded ttf font from web and can see it in the list of available fonts but when selected it will not show a sample letter or actually become useable. Have done this many times before without problems…..anyone help??

    Thanks 👿

    Hi Gripper,

If you look at the font in Windows Control Panel / Fonts, can you see the characters there? (I run a Swedsih version of Windows so I do not know if above is 100% correct)

I assume you have installed the font in SignLab (File – Install – Fonts).

You can check what a font contain in SignLab (SL) by following:
    1. Left click the text tool icon in the toolbar and right click on the text tool.
    – Font Detective appear
    2. Choose the desired font and click Select
The entire font content should display on Sign Blank. If not press F7 or F3 then F7.

    Gripper

Before you can use a font in Signlab you need to install it. Go to file – install – fonts and search the directory you have saved it in – install. This should work.

Another thing we do is, use bitstream font navigator. Go start – Bit Stream Navigator. Search the TTF font in the list, when you find the one you want then Drag & Drop into the right hand coloumn. these are TTF fonts that are actually on your system but not installed.

This helps the effieciency of your system and when you finished with the fonts you can put back in the left hand coloumn.
But keep fonts that you might use the most. We keep quite a few in the right, but not nearly all.

    Give it a go mate.

    Cheers

Sorry mate 🙂 I’m not really a techie 😳 My computer bloke just advised me that Bitstream Navigator is actually a bit of extra software that comes with Corel Draw for managing fonts. If you have Corel then search for Bitstream Navigator on your system.

    Sorry for the confusion 😉

    Cheers

If you are using 98 or below , you might have too many fonts in the system , and it wont install but will list. you need to delete some fonts.
