probably not much help on this mate as im a signlab and photoshop person. 😀
i am guessing here but once you have typed in your text and selected it, you should be able to go into some of the options and select "fit text to arc" thats how it is in signlab anyway… maybe different in Corel.as for the file request, you would be best asking for that in a separate post in file swapping because these forums do not have upload/download facilities.

Thanks Rob anyway. This is a sign that my boss wants. You know, the job I walked out from.
-
😕 oh yeh… hell you must be a hell of a good salesman mate, walk out of a job and the boss is one of your first customers? :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
good for you mate…hope you get the software talking soon. 😉

IM actually working back there now and quite enjoying it as well. Only banking which means I can take what shifts I want.
-
oh yeh, sorry you mentioned that to me mate. 😳
best way really, allows you to find your feet john. -
Hi John
You should be able to draw the arc with the circle tool. Then in the text menu fit text to the arc you have drawn. You can then separate text and delete the arc you have drawn. Then reselect all the text and group. That should work.

Thanks Pete. Ive managed to add text to the arc. Just dont know how to delete it.
I really need to do a course with corel.
Thanks again

arrange – break apart. Well in Draw 12 it is i can’t recall 9 now. Or click on some white space then click on the circle or curve and hit delete.
Tim.

John, not a corel user so don’t know if this is any help, software I use has an option/tool for combining and un-combining so I would just select the text/arc un-combine and the delete the arc.
Robert I find that if I make sure I keep my feet on the end of my legs at all times they never get lost :lol1:

Hi John
You could convert to curves, break apart and then remove the path. It should workPeter

Im doing a sign on a board that is 4 foot width and about 30 inches depth. I want to print it out on normal a4 paper which would take about 20 pages and join them together.
I do think I will have to do a course on corel so any reccomendations would help. Thanks

John haven’t you got a fit to page option on your printer ?
Lynn
-
Break text apart, that’s the option you need, don’t have to convert to curves, but sometimes you need to do that if its a joined up or overlapping font as you need to weld the letters before cutting.
Another handy hint if you cant break contour group apart move it, undo the move then you can break it, (in corel x3 anyway) one of those annoying glitches they haven’t fixed yet.As for fitting the sign onto the page just go to page layout, set it to a4 and re size the sign to fit.
That’s what I do for speed and ease.
then once printed just undo the changes -
John
After you press print, select "layout" tab, then press "fit to page".
This will condense your image to one A4 page.

Sorry Im finding it a bit hard to explain. I would like the text drawn out the size to fit the 4 foot board. So the first page printed would have a bit of the left hand corner and so on. I would then have to join the pages together.
Thanks again
-
in that case draw the sign full size, 4′ by whatever and then change page layout to a4, this way you can see what parts of the full size sign fit on the a4 page and tile them accordingly

John why do you want to print full size, tiled on A4why not just plot it to paper, using a pen instead of a blade?
or am I missing something?
Peter
-
Hi Peter. I havent got a plotter yet so I am going to print the letters and transfer them onto the board and hand paint them.
Thanks
-
Sorry John, that makes it clearer,
But how will you transfer the design to the board before painting?Probably a stupid question, I know.
Peter

Peter
Charcoal the back of the paper and draw over the letters.

i used to do that for years…before i discovered paint mask 😀

Buy a few metres of paint mask, cut the letters out of that with a scalpel, should imagine it would be a lot quicker.
-
John, I’m sure there are easier ways to do it than using a load of a4 paper.
Would it not be possible to print a4, on squared paper (either preprinted or generated in corel)
and then scale up onto one piece of paper, or directly to the board?Peter

An overhead projector will do the job too John, if you make sure its level.
-
What is paint mask and where can i get it please.
Thanks

gee whizz harry ive forgotten about mine…. 😮 its under a desk collecting dust… 🙁

Paint mask is like vinyl. but has a low tak adhesive.
so you use it like a stencil.you would still need to transfer your design to it, with a method other than lots of A4 sheets

handy is an understatement harry 😀 ………….i remember being able to trace fonts out at an uncanny size, still had to tile though…the greaseproof (chippie paper) i bought from wholesalers was 32×18…..i think, but it still worked a treat 😀
nik

You could transfer the A4 sheets to it and cut the letters out, straight from the paper, it just depends on how laborious you want it to be, the least laborious way is to cut through the paper and the paint mask,
hold on thats wrong………. the easiest way is to buy a plotter. :lol1:
Or contact your local signwriter who should have one handy.
But failiing that I would cut the letters from paint mask -
I still use it all the time Nik, very versatile for letters, murals etc and cheap to buy now.

yeh i know harry…and keep it that way 😀 i rush about like a nutter everyday of the week, like most folk on the boards…..not worth it at the end of the day…..lifes too short eh!!! keep the good life up harry 😉

Nice idea, that not rushing about bit.
Not gonna happen in my life though
Tomorrow I have to climb a 15 foot ladder with my leg in a cast fitting dibond signs, then some window etch.
After that I shall relax by starting on the vans & pub windows I have stacked up
:lol1: -
Reckon you can do the ladder then Steve? Or do you need my scaffold again? I could lend it to you in the AM for a day or so if you wanted it.
Peter -
We should be ok on this one, as its not too heavy, the Gable end the other side may be trickier, I’m trying to borrow a scaffold tower for that locally.
If we need it Pete I could come pick it up but we should be OK thanks.
I will of course be buying this stuff once the lot have paid me.😛
