  • can anyone help cannot get ripping done in signlab?

Posted by Michal Witkowski on September 21, 2006 at 2:11 pm

    Hello,

I`ve thought that I`m a calm and self-controlled person, but SignLab have shown me that I`m not.

I`m trying print and cut some vinyl job.
It is a rectangle with a simple contour cut inside it.
When I tried print&cut it – SignLab have sent printing instructions to Print and Cut Manager but not the cutting instruction. Every time it stop during adding it to queue and every time on bytes value 8000.

I`ve updated cutter and printer drivers, SignLab and even windows and it didn`t help.

    Can somebody help me? 🙂
(I`m on the best way to be mad 👿 🙂 )

    greetings 🙂

    Hi Michal

I am not the best person to be answering your question, although I know from experience how frustrating my PC60 can be. Usually it is down to my error, not putting in the correct command.

First, have you turned the rectangle to be cut into a ‘contour cut object’?

Have you got ‘enable cutting’ turned on?

After that, I’m lost, but someone else here will be able to help.

    Good luck!

Lorraine – thanks for reply 🙂

Settings are the same like before. (it used to works).
Additionaly, sometimes it works (but not when I need it), and when I working with diffirent jobs I have any problems.

I really don`t understand how SignLab works and what or who has an influence on it.

    Such a beautiful day… 😉

Post the question on the Cadlink forum, some one else may pick it up if Rod is not about here.

    Hi Michal,

Just so I know, what printer and cutter are you using? I take it you have separate devices?

First thing to check are your print and cut settings, which I will walk through as follows:

    1. Go File menu >> Print and Cut Setup.
    2. The Print and Cut Setup dialog will default to the Printer tab.
    3. Confirm that the Printer is correct.
    4. Set the Print Mode = to what is appropriate for the vinyl and inks being used.
    5. If you are printing spot colors, then set Spot Color Matching = ON.
    6. On the Cutter tab, confirm that the correct cutter is selected from the drop-list.
    7. Set the Printer Cutter Alignment to produce the registration marks that are recommended per the Operator Manual for your cutter.
    8. Click Setup button to open Plotter Setup dialog.
    9. The Plotter Setup dialog will default to the Plotter tab.
    10. Confirm that the Machine Limits are set correctly for the cutter.
    11. Click the Port tab, and confirm that the Port Location is correct.
    12. Click OK to close Plotter Setup dialog.
    13. Click OK to close Print and Cut Setup dialog.
    14. Go File menu >> Print and Cut to preview the job.
    15. On the Print/Cut Toolbox, click the Print and Cut button.
    • At this point, the Print and Cut Manager should launch.
    • The print portion of the job may precede the cut portion by a few seconds.
    • When the cut portion is complete, the little icon next to the job will appear as a "sheet of media with pair of scissors."

Does this help your situation? Have there been any issues with setting up your printer in the Print and Cut Manager?

    Let me know,

    Hello Rod,

I`ve tried it before, but it didn`t help, so I decided to install signlab again and it works well now.

    Thanks for advice 🙂

    I`ve forget – I`m using Mimaki JV3-75SPII and Mimaki CG-130FX

    greetings
