Do a search of the boards for the cadet and you will get plenty answers Another thing I think it will be adrian who will instal the printer get him to do a print and cut of a circle or multi edged shape at both sides of the vinyl check the outline cut closely and see if it registers closely and if not get him to set it up with the service mode and not through the panel as it doesn’t work very well.

    Hi Valegraphics 😀

I just had my Cadet installed today.

It’s very intense the training that you get – there is a lot to take in in one go. Having said that my head is still spinning after todays training session but already I am delighted with the results. 😀 😀

    Questions to ask?

1/ How do I go about creating a contour that will cut my graphic after printing

2/ Maintenance – what do I need to do to ensure the print heads don’t dry out – how long can I leave the machine out of use without going through flushing procedures?

3/ Profiles – what are they and how do I obtain profiles for the media I am printing on?

4/ Long Media clamps – What do I need to do to ensure that when these are fitted I dont accidently attempt to cut my media and damage the cutting knife/printhead.

5/ Who can I contact for advice on running the machine and using the troop software after the one day training session is over.

I’m all fired up and ready to go – I can’t wait to get back to work tommorrow to play with my new machine (it’s just a pity I have a normal days work lined up to get through before I can focus all my attention on the new printer.)

Good luck and make sure you’ve got some aspirin with you come installation day. Your head will be spinning but you will be fired up with enthusiasm afterwards. 😀

    Got a decent video camera?

Take it with you a record the demo the guy gives you on the machine because i can guarantee it is too much to absorb in 1 day, especially, the head soaking demo.

Thank’s Goop + phill for the replies. I had my cadet installed yesterday. Your right about the amount of head work in a small amount of time. Noel was great but again there’s only so much you can take in. Played about with come clipart first to have a play. I’ve already got a partial wrap to do!!!! What’s the best way to keep it tracking goop ? Run it back and forth a few times maybe? Well it’s good to know theres people out there who have probably come accross most of the obvious prob’s involved, and are more than willing to help. Great stuff. Also goop what sort of vinyl are you using. And what do you think i should use on a SPRINTER. Got to flood coat inside the raised panels from front to back(mwb) and i need a decent media to stretch into those huge recesses in the center of the van!!! Confident enough taking it on providing ive got a good vinyl which is not overly priced and can do the job. I’ll send artwork if you need to see it. Very large file though. Thanks again for the replies. All the best cadets.(excuse the pun) MATT 😎 😀 😮

Speculate to accumulate you have made the right choice Phil.

Best advice i can give is don’t get too hung up on various types of media find a clear and a white vinyl that works and is economic to buy bet you find that you dont cut as much vinyl and start printing most of your jobs. I know it costs more but the time saving is worth it so you can increase turnover with only a small revenue cost.

Other thing is be open minded/ think laterally you will find the machine will offer a solution to most jobs.

Good luck with the new toy.

    Cheers

Look after those heads, the people who distribute the JV3 insist that you clean the heads at the end of each day (or print day). Normally a case of poking the rubber O-Rings or the heads with a special cleaning-solvent.

From experience, it is certainly worth it!!!!

Oracal stuff good gives good colours the one with the grey backing.
Other posts on here would recomend avery 900 or the oracal stuff never used the avery bit expensive i think. i find you need to saturate the colours some times to get a rich print out well in Signlab anyway.

Sure Noel will be happy I got his name completly wrong lol
