When i’m cutting(Using Corel or signlab) the plotter centres everthing on the width of the vinyl therefore wasting a lot.

Can anyone tell me what i’m doing wrong and explain the correct way to do things

    Hope that makes sense

    Cheers Iain

in signlab go to plotter set up and you can define where the plot starts. left right or centre etc Its cut, Plotter defaults

I assume you are using the windows driver in Corel Fred. What about in Signlab? you are not using the windows driver in that too are you?

Also what version of Signlab is it?

Oh & things should be much simpler if you stick to Signlab for cutting. Lot trickier in Corel.

OK this is where i show myself up for what i am

I am using the drivers that came with the graphtec so i am presuming that they are the ones to use.

I have ver 7 of signlab but am not very familiar with it, still finding my way round. I also have Corel ver 12 and have used that since the days of ver 5.

I design my stuff in corel and then transfer it ti signlab as i am led to believe that it copes with curves better than corel.

Can i also add, as feedback to you Brian, that it is a lot easier to load up your outlines in corel as opposed to signlab.

Peter, had a look at the plotter options but i couldn,t work anything out..

As i said, showing myself up for what i am, not very good

    Cheers

Heh! Don’t be too hard on yourself
We’re all learning every day 🙂

Sounds like you got a good piece of kit there
Should be able to go into
    Cut
    Plotter Setup

    In plotter setup you have:
    Upper Left
    Centre
    Lower Left (click this)

This is what Peter was on about

You have to tell signlab where your outlines are, then its drag and drop.
you also need to install your graphtec drivers in signlab.
if you want give me a call in the next 20 minutes or tommorrow, when you are at your computer and I will be more than happy to guide you through it

You don’t want to use the driver that came with the Graphtec.

You need to install the driver in Signlab if you haven’t already…

Go to File, the install cutting devices…you should find your cutter listed there.

Then you will need to set it up….go to cut & plotting defaults to do that.

Then check it by putting a simple object on screen & going to the scissor icon.

The outlines are best in Signlab because they are produced in Signlab! What problems have you had? Make sure you use the CDL files & go to the view menu & make sure “show lines styles” is clicked.

    Cheers for all that lads

Let me try and work through all that by myself and see if i can get the results, if i’m still having problems you’ll hear me scream in Luton.

Brian, it is probably just me that is coc$ing things up but when i open the outlines in Corel they are at full size and when i do it in signlab they have to sized up. I’m not having a go at you or your outlines coz i think they are a valuable tool to all of us. BTW have you got an outline for an S-Type Jag?

Like i said , im still finding my way around signlab

    Cheers

Iain all the file originates from the CDLs the only ones that are scaled down are the Ai ones. I have a side view of the S-Type send me an email & I will reply with it attached.

Looks like you have your answer already , I would also say to use the Signlab drivers for signlab, but remember to make sure the CE3000 is reset to HPGL, GPGL is for the windows driver only,

load vinyl, roll2 when ready press “pause” next page until you find command , use the arrow keys to change to HPgl/GPGL press enter twice,
hope this helps ,its all in the manual on the disk under yor brew 😀 what happened to good old paper, sorry trees.
    🙂
