  • can anyone design sign to resemble a hairdressers?

    Hi There,

why is it that the work you dislike most comes in big handfuls 🙄

I’ve got to do another hairdressers shop. One of the reasons I dislike them is that the clients are always vague. They just say that they want a modern, shiney look ! 🙄

When I put the name on the picture using a fairly modern font, it just looks a bit boring. Maybe its just me 😕 It looks more like a butchers !

The brief is to use chrome or silver perspex lettering and incorporate some teracotta/bronze to match the new floor tiles and accessories in the shop. The sign face is black foamalux.
They want a modern feel and also want me to incorporate window graphics too.

I’ve played around with the design, but just don’t know if I’m on the right track.

Any ideas or comments would be very welcome 🙁

    Cheers,
    Cheryl

Can’t do layout at home but would be tempted to use a pair of scissors for the "y" in taylored and drop the cap "S" in CUTS lower than the rest of the wotrd and put a barbers pole up through it i.e. under the bottom part, over the middle and top part. That is if it is a unisex salon. Just an idea, going back to my drink now (drink1)

    quote Cheryl Tissington:

The sign face is black foamalux.

Cheryl, scrap the black foamalux, definately not an out door material,
I did a large hairdressers some months back using matt black allupanel, much better option.

Just finished another, large ally tray with just the name in polished s/s letters with led’s very simple but very effective so ‘less is more’ does work, just never looks that exciting on a visual.

I am willing to swap all the boat names I do, for your hairdressing jobs as you disslike them so much…can’t believe how generous I am, no wonder I’m poor 😀

Dave, send me a drink down, had a very long day with another tomorrow so need to chill out. 😉

If she wanted a modern look….she maybe should of bought a different shop 🙂 🙂

sorry that was a bit mean 🙂

like the idea of using one red, blonde and brown hair, also would let people know it’s a hairdresser from window display, because it’s very hard to make the place look good.

    alumium tray
built up tiny perfect letters from Applelec [USA?]
SAA window display – posters etc etc

    if only
    😀

    Many thanks Andrew.

I’m always astonished by clients who spend a fortune on the interior of the shop and then do nothing on the outside.

A bit of weeding, a jet washer and a lick of paint works wonders !

They never seem to grasp the fact that it doesn’t matter whats inside the shop if potential customers walk straight past it.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. Thanks again everyone 😀

P.S. I feel better now about the "Less is More concept" that certainly works for me Andrew. I love it.
