Hello, Can anyone advise re problem with Corel?
Im using CorelDraw Select Edition7 (Version&.467) with Signtools3. In last couple of weeks a problem has started and is now stopping work ! ! When I press the CUT button in Signtools up pops the box saying ‘ Corel has encountered a problem and needs to close ‘ and duly does so. Ive had a computer man in and as far as I know Im up to date on Uploads/Patches etc. Ive also just contacted Signtools and I’m awaiting their response and usually they are good getting back.
In the meantime has anyone got any thoughts ? Thanks for any advise, John

Hi John, it may be worth upgrading to a later version, not necessarily X4, but even 8 would be a start and cheap.

It is worth uninstalling and installing again in case something is corrupted.

It comes as no surprise you have trouble with V7 and XP. V7 was out long before XP. I would definitely upgrade obviously which one you go for is up to you, X3 is very good, X4 better. If you have been managing well with V7 you obviously don’t need the bells and whistles that said new import filters are always good to have if you have files from others.

Just a note X4 has a Publisher import filter this crops up from time to time.

Alan is right but have you uninstalled/installed since you upgraded to XP? If not it might be worth a try for the short term but a later Corel is a much better bet.

You may want to consider an upgrade to Corel 12 or X3 as they are likely to appear at very low prices as soon as X4 is distributed.

Thanks to all who replied to my probs with Corel. It seems I’d be better off upgrading so Ive been looking at a Corel Graphic Suite 12 CD ROM on Amazon,Do you think this would be suitable for the moment ??cheers JOhn

V12 was a good version, however X3 has a more accurate trace for signs although no centreline trace, contour is made from curves not hundreds of straight lines, radiused corners, step and repeat, better import and export filters (especially pdf) and lots of other tweaks and features. If these are not important to you then 12 is fine.

Colin, you can download it now, the boxed version is not available until latter part of February.

Ah, I see – you would think as a registered user of X3 they might have let me know?

When you have ironed out all the bugs Alan, let me know and I will do the upgrade 🙂

    Thanks

If i recal correctly, the downloaded version of X3 has activation?
    Does X4 have any activation?

From memory I think it does, I think you get the option to put in a serial no or click trial. The trial is ok to try but the box version will have all books, fonts and clipart which apparently has been updated again.
