    Hi All

Just got back from a weeks holiday skiing in France.
I shut down my Cadet as recommended by the supplier.
Insert cleaning cartridges and pull through some cleaner until the ink was coming out diluted, trouble is I only have 2 nearly full cartridges so had to pull them out and put the ink ones back in, then do the other colours, no problems so far.

Came back in Monday and pulled through the inks, did the black and cyan first no problem I thought.
Then the magenta and yellow, I started to pull through a load of air with the ink and the yellow tube was empty, after a little inspection I found that the rubber insert in the end of the yellow cartridge was leaking and there was yellow ink down the cartridge.
I then checked them all and they had all suffered the same, luckily the yellow was near empty as was the magenta but there was still about a third left in the black and cyan ones.
Anyway I ordered some new cartridges and this morning fitted them and pulled the ink through and all seems well now.

So please be warned, I think that the solvent in the cleaner is a lot stronger than in the inks and the rubber seals on the cartridges must be different.
I don’t think this problem would have happened if I’d had 4 cleaning cartridges and left them in for the week then refitted the inks on Monday so I hope my experience saves someone else the trouble (and expense) I’ve just had.

I think next time I’ll just get my mother in law to do a print every few days.

Hi There, seems you went to a great extreme for a week, I know we all want to protect our investment… We usually raise the print heads with the spanner from underneath, slide the heads over to access the rubber caps, clip the print tubes to the drain bowl with the clips that should be just in front of the heads, then fill the rubber caps/sponges with cleaner, the same used for cleaning with the dropper, adjust the print heads back down, mind no splashes to the eyes when they spring back in to place. This keeps the heads in cleaner while you are away, we use this method if our machine is not busy for a while and if were off on holiday. We have had no problems at all so far. Might just be a diff idea to consider, somebody may have used this method and had problems, if so drop a post so we know. Cheers Rob.

our supplier suggested to us to not leave cleaners near the heads for a very long period of time, they refused to sell us cleaning carts for our printer, they said more trouble then you realise. Although different machine but with same heads,

I was advised that rather than print every few days do a head clean as this ensures that the fresh ink is completely through the head something that might not happen if your print isn’t big enough.
