Does anyone run a bulk ink system for the Solfet Pro III or alike?

I was wondering about doing so as we are out of our one year warranty and we are doing more and more print now.
Anyones input would be very much appreciated as i’m just pondering with the idea.

I enquired today at Granthams about the bulk there bulk ink system for the Roland.
They still use a cartridge method but they chip the cartridge, you then refill the cartridge with their ITL Evo-sol inks.
The price works out at £100 for 1 litre which is considerably less than what i pay now, they say that the switch over runs seamlessly with the eco sol max. There is no need to drain the existing inks out, clean and then re-fill with the new inks.
    Has anyone tried these inks?

    Hi
i swapped to Evosol from ITL’s Max ink & was so disappointed with the Evosol colors especially red that i swapped back to the ITL Max ink. I sent a file plus a printed image & previous printed image for them to see. They attempted to reproduce the image on a Sol 3 & did manage to get a close result but other colors in the file were put totally out and Versaworks was having to be set up to run at extremes. Yet the ink is quoted as being a direct replacement for Roland’s ink for use with Roland profiles. I do have issues with the ITL’s Max inks since the change with what i think is a change in formula of the ink & i am waiting for a response from ITL which i have been promised for the last month, speed of response is appalling.
All that said I have made good money using ITL Max inks and i am not advising against them but i would not like to recommend them either. Sean at Granthams seems to fight your corner if you have a problem with ITL so if you are going that route i would recommend going with them.

I converted both my two SoljetII 540sc over to Techink full solvent years ago.

You do have to flush the system unfortunately, but never regretted the move.

Vizon inks are also very good. More eco sol in that they don’t smell. They are compatible with techink too, so I run those as my orange and green as techink have dropped those colours from their Roland range due to lack of sales – only a few CMYKOG machines out there in the Rolands 🙁

A few of the guys here use Jetbest too. Heard some good reports too.

Kevin….thanks for giving me your opinion on the Evosol inks. They can’t be that great in your opinion if you switched back to ITL max inks. Where do you get the ITL max inks from?

I for one would like to trace back every ink supplier to their roots, what factory and who makes the real money from badged ink.

A number of the suppliers makes claims that their ink is the best and you will not need to change the profiles of your machine. Sure, they do but it might be fine if you have a spectrophotometer.

    Why?
the people who produce tyres probably buy the same rubber, but its how they spec the end product that is the relevance as to who has the best quality.

    aint it?

Dave, I haven’t needed to change my profiles for day to day stuff either, although I did get a guy out to recalibrate my machines so they were consistent together (either machine can print the same file), but its not so much the ink as the quality of the pigments that makes the difference.

Teckink use the finest pigments available. They are obviously dearer than the cheaper more coarse pigments in the cheaper inks, but the upside is less head damage over time, so the cost savings are in the life of the heads, rather than the savings in the ink….

because u don’t know who’s changing the formula, where the ink is coming from or if they are printing the sticker 100% genuine ink. And third party ink can either stink of pea or be an off shade of red.

Like ink for Spectra heads, it has to be certified, Epson should do the same (maybe they do) lol

If you have been using the Eco Max inks and then move to the Evo Sol inks, you’re going to see a definite difference instantly. The reason being that the Eco Max colours are different shades than the Evo Sol.

The Evo-S as they are known, are a match to the OEM colours and are not a match for the Eco Max. The Eco Max colours are closer to the EPS.
For Kevins experience he did notice a difference between the sets. The Eco Max colours are the shades I’d prefer and have been doing so since the days I started all of this. The Reds possible from Eco Max are greater due to the Gamut being more Red orientated. We only matched the OEM for the Evo-S, so we can not dictate what the colours should be.
We acknowledged requests from the market for a match and made one.

The Eco Max colours are possible in an Evo-S but whether there is demand for that particular colour set is another matter.
We have many users printing with the OEM profiles and our Evo-S inks.

Regarding quality of pigment and where they are made, I know from my view, considering our production area is behind my office, that its made here in Stockport.
We use only high grade European pigment supply. We do not believe in trying to source cheap materials for a few extra pounds.
