    Hi gang,

Advise needed on an up and coming problem

In June i placed an order with BT to go into the new book, 1/4 page and a 1/4 column.
I was going to include 3 small pictures with the big advert but was asked to wait untill i got a proof before submitting the pictures for inclusion.

the book is due out in sept so i phoned them today to chase up a proof, guess what, the book is closed and gone to print. My adverts are included in the new book but god knows what they will look like.

Has this happened to anyone else and if so how did you resolve the problem. I dont fancy paying for an advert that i dont like and doesn’t fit the image of the company.

    iain

had trouble with Yellow Pages, you have to sign a “proof acceptance” thing with them. Loads of trouble over the years.

    Hi Iain

We had a similar problem with BT phone book a couple of years ago. Signed the proof’s off every thing OK, when book came out our logo was missing. Got on to BT, in the end they agreed that they were at fault, got a years adverts in two sections for free.

If you did not sign the proofs off its down to BT and you should not owe them a thing.

    Regards
    Lee

Suspend your standing order with them until it’s resolved. This is what I have just had to do with the Thomson directory who despite repeated phonecall have failed to adress my complaint about a missing advert that should have been included as part of this years campaign. Next year I will vote with my feet and not advertise with them again

We have a similar dispute with yellow pages, placed an order for a full colour ad (and have a signed order by them), when the directory came out we got black and white!

Complained like mad and got offered 20% discount, told them that was not enough, and if this was a customer of ours we would be putting the job right at our expense.

Time has gone on, and the problem has not been resolved, and as a consequence, it looks like they are not going to accept our next years advert until we pay in full!

Personally, I’d rather they put it into court and we show the Judge the signed order!

Problem is, if you come out of a directory like that, people tend to think you’ve gone out of business!

    thanks for the replies guys.
At least i know i am not alone with this problem. Guess i’ll wait until i see the book and take it from there. I think i will also take the initiaive and put the stamding order on hold before they take any payment.

I’ll keep you all informed of this as it progresses

    Cheers
    Iain
