    Hi all
there is an independent engineer who knows the Roland’s but cant think of his name… a friend of mine who got a Roland broken down, he tried some parts and it didn’t work…. to do with the encoder.

    The machine is dead

Anyone know of this engineer, i appreciate Roland are nearby and we already spoken with them.

ok the problem is…. the optical sensor has been replaced and the cable…

when the sensors goes looking for the media hold downs, it doesn’t find them so its all over the shot

thats the issue… roland saying as u replaced both items it could be servo board.

    any more ideas?

It was the flex cable when we had this issue – simple but are the parts of the roller that sensor reads clean?

apparently he called VTS, solved it on the phone but now his heads are seized due to failed capping…

I would have gone for the cable next too Dave. Glad it’s sorted out now.

What model Roland is it? It could just be a quick capping adjustment that needs doing. I’ve more than likely got the service manual for whichever Roland he runs so I could email him the info…..?
