Bordeaux ink for Versacamm
Posted by davidimo on August 25, 2005 at 6:57 pmIs anyone using Bordeaux eco-solvent inks on Roland Versacamm? What are the results, scratch resistance, durability compared to eco-sol ink? Any problems with printheads?

David,
I was just talking to Ameraban about the Bordeaux inks yesterday. Ameraban is probably the largest sign supplier in the US. Basically they are dropping the Bordeaux line of ink because they have had so many probelms with them. Personally I would not run them in my machine.

davidimo, Manoukian /Argon/ has eco-sol inks for Roland printers. We are using them from one month. Two-three time faster driyng, more scratch resistant. But you can’t leave you printer off for long time.

Lubo, are you using them on Versacamm? What is the price of the ink and do you use cartridges or refill? Do they offer any ICC profiles? For how long can you leave the printer off then? Thanx!

The price is about 150 euro for 1l. I saw them on Versacam Sp-300. We are using it on SC545EX from 3 months. For two days, no problem with heads. But there is some problem with black ink. Head didn’t fire dots properly. I can send you picture to see what I mean if you give me you email. Inks coming in 1l tubes and you must buy special cartridges /aprox. 30 euro each/ to fill the ink. They haven’t ICC profiles yet. Are you using ColoRIP or VersaWorks. I can suggest what ICC profile will give you acceptable results.

Lubo,
my email is (mod-edit) Please send me picture. I am using Versaworks for now, planning to upgrade to Softrip. Do you have any kind of data sheet or MSDS for their inks (or at least their webpage)? Thanx!

You guys should consider Techinks for the Rolands. Bulk feed and true solvent inks, excellent scratch resistance, and heaps cheaper than the Roland inks to run. They dry quickly, and lamination is not required on most applications
Had a demo of the New Roland eco sol max yesterday. Wouldn’t waste my money on that either. Inks rubbed off with solvent cleaner in 3 passes, and the techink didn’t move after 20 or so passes.
check it out at http://www.techink.com/documents/CidSProductSheet.pdf Now they are owned by HP too, so they have a huge financial backing behind them, not that they did not have a good bankroll before.

Yes techink are good inks, BUT they are too expencive for our market. All other brands are cheaper than techink.

i use original ink Eco-sol-max,and dot thing use any different ink,
only whit Eco sol max you can get max quality, and minimum problems. -
Barry,
What problems did Ameraban say they had with Bordeaux inks. Was it with the wholel product line or just with the roland type ink. I have just seen Bordeaux ink in some mutoh toucans and the results look pretty good. Let me know. Cheers,

I would like to find what problems people have with Bordeaux inks, because we are using it at the moment, and I can say – they are much better that Manoukian eco-sol inks. But people on the message boards says – Be aware, don’t use it. Why people? On one Russian message boards, almost every Roland in Russia uses Bordeaux inks. Also Bordeaux make 3 different type of inks for Rolands – MildSol, CitroSol /our dealer says that Cadets uses this type ;-)/ and EcoSol.
So, I want to know, where to expect problems? Nozzile cloging, pump faults or color fading? -
Hey, Lubo, we are thinking of switching oem’s to Manoukian Argon colors. Why did You left them, and in what way do You think Bordoux are much better than manoukian>
