  • Bonding acrylic to concrete – which adhesive should I use?

Posted by Simon Worrall on July 20, 2015 at 1:45 am

Good morning. I hope everyone had a good weekend.

I am currently making a sign consisting of quite a lot of small 10mm thick acrylic letters, the smallest of which are 45mm high.
These are to be stuck directly on to a smooth acid washed concrete wall.

The intention is to first apply an oramask stencil to the wall, which will give both a guide for the letters and a mask for the adhesive.
My question is, what adhesive should I use which will bond acrylic to concrete?

The letters will not be in direct weather, they are under an overhang, but they stand a good chance of getting wet from time to time.

I dont expect to have much vandalism, but the occasional brush of a sleeve against the letters may be an issue.

    Thank you for reading this.

    Simon.

    Hi Simon.

We would normally use an MS Polymer type adhesive for this. here is a video of the stuff we use, cant fault it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rQewDKkEG4

We have also used a 2 pack material from Insadol in uk for a similar type job, but have never used it on acrylic.

Thank you Bob. That stuff looks impressive! It looks like just the thing.
