This small plywood rowing boat (24 ft) is about to take Oracal vinyl on possibly its toughest test ever, 6000 miles across the Pacific Ocean from Choshi on the east coast of Japan to San Francisco in the US.
The looney, sorry skipper of this small craft is a mate 38 year old ex-royal marine Mick Dawson, not content with having taken it already across the Atlantic Ocean with his equally daft ex-bootneck brother Steve, our Mick decides he wants to spend 6 months at the mercy of one of the hardest environments on earth *hair* , just thought you’d like to know that people stick vinyl to the dammnedest things and don’t bother with constructive critisism I just supplied the vinyl the daft sailor boy stuck it on.
As an aside Robert I contacted Europoint to see if they were interested in supplying the vinyl as a sponsorship thing and they could’nt even be bothered to reply to my letter, pity really as Micks taking along a video camera supplied by the BBC as they will be following his progress and will be making a wildlife special when he returns they missed out there, tell them they still have a couple of weeks as the boat has left but Mick doesn’t go till the end of April, when they did the Atlantic, Mactac supplied the vinyl and got loads of coverage on tv and in the press.[/b]

excellent stuff mate.. it will be good to see how it stands up to the test..

regarding sponsorship: i would have thought like you. i great way to promote their product with minimal costs. its not like there is a million metres at stake.
i would e-mail the london depot and fax them also…
tell them i will submit the pictures to the sign magazine also if they do..
its proper sign news for the mags not just another colour of vinyl being added to a range.

we can wait and see what they say 🙄

What range of Oracal is being used
I’d be interested in knowing how it stands the test (hot) (hot) (hot)
Something we could all plug when customers ask ‘Will it come off when it rains?’ 😕 😕
