Block acrylic illuminated letters.
Hi all
We are making more and more of this style of letter but I particularly liked the look of this small sign due to how well it worked on the slatted timber background.
First time using the mini acrylic block LED’s from Khalid at Citi-LED, thanks, much better than the edge lit side emitting ribbon we’ve used before. Note, in the real world there isn’t any light spotting on the coloured triangle element – I just cant take photos of illuminated signs without over exposure.

I think it is great how LEDs bring signs to life, without much extra effort or cost to us lot. 🙂is that just a block-out vinyl you have applied to the face? I’m guessing then cut composite or similar for the face? the reason I ask is the uneven impression has me lost. 🤔I’m a nosey sod, i know! 🤣

We wet sprayed the letters front face/returns white to help reflect more of the light out the back of the letter and sprayed them black for a light block, it’s just a build up of paint. They wanted a non illuminated white face so 1mn white engraving laminate was bonded to the face to hide this.
The halo worked better having the LEDs still facing into the block letter, rather than pointing to the rear – more diffused. The triangle logo face was left without any spray and printed translucent white vinyl.

I forget the correct term for it but is the acrylic you used the LED opal that helps enhance and spread the light better? I was tempted to buy some at around 20mm but the price was very steep for a small sheet of it and I imagine with current price hikes it must be worse, as that was about two years ago that I was going to buy some. -
