Martin, I honestly wouldnt know as I have never owned a roland machine but if you are looking for a good supplier for blades try Edward Mathis, there is a contact on this site.
The first one will cost a little more as they use their own holders but after that you just send it back and they send you a new one. No messing about setting it up as it is all pre-set by them. Great value and they last as well.

    Thanks chaps……….

I had already been in touch with Mathias who wanted £7 more than one of their retailers for the same blade!!!!!!!!!…hence my question as i thought I must have phoned the wrong company?

BUT……… they did promote the replacement service and I guess that’s where the savings are to be made.

I have used Harry Mathias for many years his knowledge of this industry in general and
plotter and router blades in particular is uncanny he can give expert advice on all aspects of plotter cutting and troubleshooting he also sells plotters at a great price.I just can not believe that he quoted any thing other that a good price for anything that he sells perhaps we could get him to post an article on all things plotter and router with tips on how to get the best out of each individual plotter as they all have their moments and quirks.
Harry operates a replacement service just send the blunt- he sends you the sharp- overnight. I once asked him can you supply a blade which would cut THICK CARD a process with which we cut templates for our POLYSHOP polystyrene lettering service, thick metallic vinyls and even 1MM Foamex! – guess what he developed a superb blade system which we have used on our two mega trusty Graftec plotters for five years cutting all sorts of thick materials for various specialist uses if you need a special cutter for a client Harry can make it -so please guys give this man a try never again will you struggle with bad cuts incorrect offsets or any other plotter gremlins im sure he will gladly offer free advice to all newcomers who can not get their machines or blades to operate at optimum performance they will all benefit from his sound advice.
Please believe me I DONT WORK FOR HIM ! i just have a lot of admiration for the help he and his wife have given my business and many others like me over the years- non of us are too old to learn he has a link on the UKSG front page do yourself a favour call him
    thanks guys Steve

Robert, Ive not been in the business long but I’ve never been quoted a cheaper price than Harry’s. Dont forget though that when you buy the first one you have to buy the holder as well, this could explain the difference in Martin’s price.

ahh yes your right martin. forgot about that bit mate…

to be honest the price he charged me first time was the same as i paid just for a blade at the time so thats why im probably overlooking this…
i dont mean he gave me any special discount, just i was paying so much. 😀

I have been paying £18 for a ‘Mathias’ blade and having read the info on this site some weeks ago contacted them direct. On reflection the £18 (from Mathias £25) does not include VAT or Delivery so that’s probably the difference.

well if thats the first order you paid for mate then thatsounds about right… but every order after that you pay about £8.

i think they recomend you buy 3 blades complete with sealed bearing holders. when your down to last blade you send them back in the provided jiffy bag. they then send you another two back complete with holders.. the blades are perfect! and they run super smooth due to being sealed.
having said that. how many times have you heard folk on this site say they have to clean out clogged up blade holders?
with mathiases theres no need… sealed to prevent that! 😉
