  • Black vinyl onto a black van, yes no?

This maybe a really stupid question but here goes anyway 🙄

I’m gonna try sign write my black van soon and want to begin with the business logo, now the stupid question is do I or don’t I start with the black base layer? I’m kinda guessing yes because there will be a noticeable difference in the contrast between the two blacks or am i just being thick?

Neil you could either put a shallow grey, white or silver outline down first then apply your logo or change the colour of the background on your logo 😛

    Suck it and see!
Cut a small logo and slap it on the van, stand back and admire, or rip it off and start again!

I would definitely use the black.
    It will make it pop.
So glad you got Tater to do your logo.

How about a Matt Black base to start and build on that M8 🙄

    Good Luck

Or how would a reflective black base look, for the outline only?

Thanks for the different suggestions, I’m looking forward to giving this a go… will make a nice change from t-shirts 🙄

Lastly, could someone please advice me on what vinyl would be best suited for this? I’ve got an account set up with europoint and they’ve supplied me with 4 swatch books for oracle vinyls (551, 651, 751c & 951) 😕

    Hi Neil

For flat panels you can use the 651 or 551, if needed to heat in to recesses etc then 751c or 951 even better.

good luck and look forward to seeing it.

    cheers

I only use high performance on vehicles, I’d go with the 751.
