bit of a worry – links to here from google?
hi all has any one found while doing a search on a search engine that our topics pop up
i did a search today for something and up came my company name and the like to uksignboard for all to read
i some time ask for help and give help just worried a customer may searchmy company name and have a look at what we have spoken about
now i have nothing to hide but would like to know your thoughtsthanks rich

i put my company name in google and it list my email and 2 or more posts !!!

I think if a customer saw it they would know you are taking them seriously, and making every effort on thier behalf. 🙂Lynn

yep! We spoke about this recently too Richard.. I insisted that we have the forums are protected from google spidering and public/guest browsing!
This is why I am now pretty cautious about what I say now as things like the B&P posts and other ones here could bring me or our company into trouble, (or even UKSB). So I think it is best not to promote your company at all or type it in any post.
However I see http://www.uksignboards.co.uk is indexed and that domain seems to be closed. However google should learn that as we are not allowed to advertise and rob asked us to change our names away from companies. If no companies are used here then I am Dave Rowland of nobody company, no-one will know except the UKSG members.

You can stop worrying now Rich …. seeing as I had a spare few mins I did a serach of your company name on here and then edited out your company name from any posts where you have mentioned it …. now if you do a search you wont find anything that relates directly to your company …… so google will stop picking it up?! …. Maybe best to not mention your company name in posts if you do not want google etc picking up on it???

the higher ranking this site gets on google and the like, the more this is going to happen i am afraid. 😕 if things keep going the way they are, “search engines wise” the boards is going to rank higher any sign site on the internet by about january i think.
with this in mind, more forums will be locked down to access members and registered users. unlike other sign forums we will always remain open to all. (we have nothing to hide 😛 ) however, the more sensitive areas will be locked to members.as you are a uksg member rich, coming in from a search engine like you say, will give you access all round due to be logged in. from an outsider looking in, they dont see “any” contact links or personal details. the fact everyone is going by their own name and not business name is tightening all angles up from spectaters. to them we are just a bunch of names and faces talking about signs. 😀
even finding the name of your company from a search, doesnt mean others will think, this is the guy near us? more likely to think its another sgn company sharing the name. after all, im sure like my own companies name, there are many duplicates around the planet on the net. 😀
