    Hi folks,

Does anyone have any experience in fitting posters to billboards?

I have a customer who has one of these mobile trailer signs 20ft x10ft double sided with timber backing. Up till now he’s been happy with corriboard signs on it, but is now asking if we could use the billboard posters on it as it should work out a lot cheaper!!! He says his mate is getting the same size trailer done for 150 Euro per side?? could that be right & if so how easy / difficult are they to fit & what equipment etc is needed to do the job?

    Thanks
    Myles

your first task is getting a decent surface… correx is not as it will swell.

personally, i think paper and billboards in general look crap. they do the job… but not for a decent looking trailer advert. maybe one of those dodgy ones that sit in Fields at the side of the motorway but not the type you see on the roads. "thats just my thoughts anyway"

use a decent brand, but cheap digital vinyl with a removable adhesive.
print and fit as normal. when it comes to replacing, just strip it. it will come away well.
on the other hand, stripping the paper will tear and leave a mess… so this will be an ongoing task.

as for the price hes being quote. ide tell him to blow…
your at least 9 square metres per side, but maybe more? IF 9 metres, hes looking to pay you around £17 per metre… that is doable, but at trade prices. ide certainly not go as low as that… never mind fitting it too…

im assuming he is handing you hi-res artwork ready to go?

    Hi rob,

Yes I agree with the bit about billboards looking crap.

Is direct UV print onto corriboard still the cheapest option with this though, as it’s quick & easy to fit & looks good enough. would be less messing than removing & re fitting vinyl each time.

Yes he is supplying print ready artwork, It’s just he’s a bit of a chancer & is always trying to cut prices down to the bone.

I’ve now been asked by another customer if we can fit blueback paper to a billboard 48 sheet size.

Does anyone have any tips on equipment to use for this & type of paste to use etc.

Also there looks like a good bit of previous work done on this billboard, some peeling etc. is that likely to cause me any problems?

    Any advice greatly appreciated

    Thanks

I am also looking for the paste used for external use, any ideas?

I believe you use normal wallpaper paste.
I have done a few but the paper wrinkles like mad, but I have read somewhere that you should soak the paper first, but for how long i’m not sure.
