I’m hoping for some insight, after seeing these fixings recommended a few times I decided to investigate. I’m afraid I have to put my hand up and admit that I just don’t get it. When would this be the best/easiest option? The pop-its look brilliant, but 8 minute curing time and 2 support things for £25 makes them really in-practical I would say. I’m not just slating these, I genuinely want to know when and why they would be the best option and how to use them. From what I can tell you bore a hole then fit the fixings in, does this mean you then have to rotate the whole sign to ‘screw’ it into position on these fixings?

    Any help appreciated.

Gavin, I have used them a few times when I didn’t want fixings showing on a sign facia, different ways to use them. If you can access the back then you can use a nylock on the threaded bar and if you can’t then I have drilled a hole, filled with a suitable adhesive and then pushed the threaded bar into the holes like you would with some styles of individual letters that have the metal pins on the back.

Not used the popits and not sure where the £25 comes from unless you are talking about the Poppit "prop" pack. The props are just like any other sort of tool and can be used for lots of other things other than Bighead fasteners I am sure, the actual poppits aren’t expensive themselves and you don’t really need to use the props all the time I am sure there would be another way to do this but as I said I haven’t used them so haven’t looked into it. I have only used the standard sort of fixings they sell and I haven’t used their adhesive either as I have always been happy with the adhesive I buy elsewhere.
