I’ve been around, just haven’t posted much lately. To be honest, I’ve just had the worst month ever workwise. I couldn’t get arrested never mind get an order. Is anyone else quiet at the moment?

Thanks for the welcome back, by the way. 🙂

Yes been quiet as well for about 2/3 weeks, just ticking over. but wed through to next Tues absolutely flat out, all at once as they say.
Have actually wrapped our bonnet on what was our new van today as there was nothing else to do.
Rob you would be proud of me mate laid the Laminated print on iveco bonnet dry, no problem thanks to your demo’s.

Coming up to two years in the business, so still comparatively new. Last month however was our busiest ever, with a high proportion of jobs we could do in house.
However It seems to be feast or famine, when it gets busy in the shop I take my eye off the sales side, I guess the trick is to keep both going but agree it is difficult.
Out canvassing this week and the business I am speaking to (a mix of retail and services) say how things in general have slowed down.

How about turning this thread into a top 50 marketing activities

    here’s five to start!

    1) Call Customers With No Recent Activity
    2) Advertise A Monthly Special
    3) Redo your own van graphics – if not using for the day park it up somewhere prominent.
    4) Go to a business networking meeting (the one you keep putting off)
    5) Do 15 introductory letters and 15 follow ups a day

Work has slowed down for me too, like you say earlier than usual. But Ive been kept going by the exhibition work which will run for another month or so before everyones holidays kick in. Ive learnt to enjoy my odd days off as I dont take much in the way of holidays anymore (except a couple of weeks in the summer)
It’s kind of reassuring that it’s not just me thats light on work at the mo 😀
    Good sales tips SAR! 😀

It is rare that we slow down due to the fact we do a lot of contract work for three local councils, including their fleet of vehicles. In the past, before we got noticed by these, if work slowed down then I used to get in my car and go down the shops in my nearby areas and see what state their signs were. You can always find at least two that have some kind of damage abut the owners don’t realise that they are covered on insurance. I used to tell them that I could replace their sign for free and “lose” their excess on the insurance policy. It suprising how many will take you up on this. Once got 3 in one street but as we went to install, picked up another 2. Well worth the journey.

Hi Big G, nice to see you around again. We are quiet at present on the vinyl side but Jenny’s embroidery side has picked up. Keeping us going. Now is the time to have a good clear out. That’s what I’m doing.

Any way, welcome back Big G

    Regards

I dont think its just our industry that is on a bit of a go slow at the moment ….. other local businesses that we speak to say the same thing …… quiet at the moment?? At present we are still running full steam, a couple of weeks ago we had a very quiet week ….. but we find that we usually have one quiet week and then the next three are manic … everyone seems to come back with their approval of designs and quotes and then they all want it urgently 😕

I’m sure things will pick up soon enough Mr Big G ….. you will have everyone arrive at your door all at once wanting signs NOW! 😉

Big G, it may not be much comfort but things are slow here in lots of industry.

I usually have enough work 3 weeks in advance, but I have only about 5 days ahead at the mo.

Trouble I have is getting the money in.

    Cheers
