what is the best way to do and fit random stripes??? some of the stripes will be in frost, white vinyl and navy vinyl. the problems i am dreading is the vinyl strips going all over the place and not remaining straight. what is the easiest and most accurate way to do this??? Also bearing in mind the customer wants this for the inside of his window.

    thanks

    Phil

there are probably a good few ways you could do this…. e.g.

doing it in one full section, window to window. (all lines combined)
    * screen print onto optically clear vinyl or self cling vinyl (if there are many shops/stores)
    * digital print onto optically clear vinyl or self cling vinyl.

pre-spaced cut vinyl with a registration line. the downside i see with this method is that you will say daylight through the little imperfections in the line joins, thats if you dont create a slight overlap. but still easy done if not that many windows.

    definitely not a line-by-line fitting…

    thanx rob,

it will be a cut vinyl job as it will have elements of mirror and frost vinyl in it. so if for example i cut stripes in the 3 different coloured vinyls for example. take some of the strips off the three vinyls to create gaps and then merge the three vinyls by applying application tape, lift applying on to the next vinyl, would this be the best way?? this will create the complete application taped stripe graphic which i am after nice and straight. the only thing is, is this way economical???? cost wise?

    Hi Philip

Hope this job is paying well as your getting into a major headache with it!

Good luck mate, I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole!!

Remember most mirror has a water based adhesive so will have to be done dry, every little bubble will show up really bad.

thanx for all you comments. its just 2 meters of it matty. i’ve kind of sussed out how to do it. registration points on all the vinyls taking the bits i dont need off each of the vinyls to create the gaps and registering the lot to get the final graphic.
