  • Best print vinyl for corriboard

Posted before about this but I asked about economy vinyl which was
    misleading as I meant 3year.
I’ve used different brand names over the years, and I’m beginning to think
the issue I’m having is with the adhesive, ie, water based.
Metamark MD3 works fine, as its adhesive is solvent, but for some reason
I can’t print at high speed(which is usually required to meet short turnarounds)
as this creates banding which my supplier said was due to static. This only
    happens with MD3.
    I use VersaCamm VP540 solvent.
I know corriboard is a low energy substrate, but surely there must be a
    monomeric vinyl suitable???

    Any ideas welcome!!
    Cheers, G

Think this was a pointless post!!
After many conversations with various suppliers the consensus is:
"But its corriboard so therefore your clients shouldn’t expect it to last long".

Maybe I’m expecting too much as I want it to last 6 months or so!!
To be fair I’m only getting peeling on less than 5% of corriboard jobs, so maybe its inconsistency in the substrate itself?

    Anyone having same issues???

Printed hundreds of correx boards coated with MD3…never had an issue.

Just dry the prints for a few days first and always, always dry apply.

it’s cheap enough – if you can’t make money then your prices are waaaay too low or you need to drop the customers. …or hand them a correx board & a set of marker pens if they want it cheaper.

    It’s a temporary sign…if it lasts a 3 weeks or 3 years they still shouldn’t complain.

if they want a ‘proper sign’ – then aluminium composite substrate and they’ll pay more.

David, Thanks for the slap in the face I needed to wake up to the fact that
I’m just being too critical of my work & not seeing these clients for what they
are, ie, unwilling to spend out for proper signage but still wanting cheap to be
    as good.

    Cheers, G.

Whether they want a sign to last 1day, 1week, or 1 month maybe even 1 year, you’re possibly going to use the same materials, and it will take you the same time to produce.

Duration of the sign shouldn’t affect your price, but consider perceived value. 😉
