  • Best hidden fixing method for Dibond panels?

    Hi

I need to fit a simple Dibond sign using hidden fixings. The sign will be overall 3.6m wide x 0.33m high, made from 2 pieces of Dibond with a join in the middle. It needs to be fitted to a wooden fascia. What would be the best hidden fixing method for this type of sign?

    Thanks

    John

Done it many times…Evo-Stik serious stuff & foam D/S tape.

Strip of tape round the edges…reasonable amount of adhesive (few wavy lines) & Bob’s your uncle.

The tape is dual purpose – holds it as the adhesive goes off & unless in a permanently wet area…also holds it in place.

Doesn’t warp in the sun or leave ‘pull marks’ either.

Downside is that it’s not coming off…ever…without destroying the sign.

Alternative is to pan-fold a dibond tray – fix some 90 degree to the wall & slip the tray over it…few small screws top & bottom. Done.

I’d thought about push fixings like the snapfix ones but thought that would make it a little difficult to keep the join closed. Also thought about using angle but there’s no top access! Hmmmm. I have used the Serious Stuff before on your reccommendation Dave and agree it’s very good, but the wood on the fascia is in bad nick and I’d feel safer using a screw on fixing method.

    Anty other ideas?

Screw an identically sized ‘mounting’ panel to the surface first to give a good, gloss surface…even if it’s just PVC.

You could always use key hole fixings from

Re clad the wood fascia and glue the boards on top. 3mm ply aint going to break the bank…………

    Or

Screw some scrap dibond strips to the wood and VHB tape the panel to these……
