What sort of price tag does this machine carry?

Doesn’t give a definitive price though Dave.
how low can you negotiate? its sort of new technology, so hp will want to sell it to get it in the market, even though they shout the advantages,
will people buy it, just because HP and their resellers say how good it is?
Has anyone on the boards used latex? and if so what are their experience?
If it as good as HP claim, it will be a bit of a revolution in the LF print market, but will you take a leap of faith?

well with the negations i had with printer resellers, I found they will go lower but also depends on what features you want. This HP seems to have most of the bits in one package.

i like it… but we need board printer, not roll

Is this not the whole point behind an open day, were folk can come and see the machines first hand peter? as you said, it IS new technology… the invite says "be one of the first to see the machine". so you get to see where the print industry is heading first hand.
with that in mind, of course we are not going to easily find UKSB members already running the large £90k latex machines launched earlier in the year, never mind these new ones. so debate on what we all think of this new technology and how we think it could benifit our company is food for thought for us all… we dont need to be running out and buying one today, but certainly worth thinking about when we do consider purchasing a new printer?
as i said in the other thread, in the not so distant future it may not be a case of choice, we maybe forced to move our business’s this route due to H&S, environment issues etc etc so nothing wrong being ahead of the game and having a look or even adding it to the old wish list?

How does this compare with something like the Summagraphics DC3 which has been around for many years and would appear to have the same advantages as the new latex inkjet (i.e no drying time and supposedly "environmentally" friendly due to the use of thermal transfer technology which does not use solvent inks either)?

the dc3 is expensive to run and is known for banding issues, on large prints, its only a larger scale gerber or pc 600 in effect, and for cymk prints. not really viable cost wise. as an inkjet,

thats how I see it anyway.

Print speeds may also be a downside with the DC3 and i think the print dpi is something like 600dpi max. could be wrong but i think i read that when looking into it some time back. as peter says, its pretty much just a wider quicker version of the PC600 as it holds/changes it carts and lays about 4inch bands i think.
