  • Banner system to hang from roof

    Hi All

Customer wants a banner style partition to hide some ugly meters in a small room, they want a banner fixed with a rail across the roof so it stays straight and hangs smoothly to the floor.

They want banner so they can lift it and hide junk behind it without it getting damaged like maybe a paper poster print would do, basically a curtain that will hang nice and square without drooping, hence a fixing rail but don’t know where to start or what to look for.

    cheers

    Warren,

Possibly a sheet of thick banner material held in place by extrusion along top edge. Similar to that used on the side of vehicle framing systems.

Not sure how you will fix to ceiling.

    Thanks guys

another suggestion was to just put a strip of angled aluminium across the roof with the banner sandwiched between it and hanging down, a pole through the bottom hem to give a bit of weight?

never drilled in to a roof before, anything to consider?

    cheers

Warren you will be drilling into a ceiling not a roof.
most ceilings are made of plasterboards or similar, fixed to joists above, either wood or steel, so you will need to locate and decide what they are made of,
the type of building usually will give you a clue.
you can get a cheap stud locator from diy stores that will find the joists.

Only suggestion will be to make sure fittings go into joists. If the ceiling is plasterboard it will not take much weight, if any.

All depends if suspended ceiling etc.

Probably need some advise from a shopfitter.

    Thanks Guys

Sorry South Africanism again, we call it a roof 😳

Anyway it a really old building, will check what the CEILING is made from (I couldn’t reach it without a ladder which I didn’t have so will have to go back and check.

Do you think maybe the same angles aluminium but with side brackets to attach to the walls either side instead?

    Thanks guys

    HI
Just a thought why not make a large hem in the top of the banner to allow a stainless pole to be threaded through and fit 2 cups to the wall as in a wardrobe pole. then you won’t have the problem of finding joists in the ceiling. hope this helps

I thought of that Mike and is similar to the option I suggested but instead of it hanging on a pole I would sandwich it against the ceiling instead, this way you won’t see what’s holding it up as the banner will be hanging in front of it, it will also attach to the side walls and not the ceiling.

Thanks for taking the time to suggest.
