Banner Spring Tension Frame Supplier
Posted by Myles Brewer on August 8, 2017 at 11:06 amHi All, Does anyone know if there are any suppliers either in UK or Ireland of snap frame style low profile (maybe 40-50mm) banner tension frames that either use preferably metal springs (not bungees as these degrade over relatively short time) or clamps?
It seems that they are readily available in far off locations like South Africa, USA etc. but can’t seem to find anything similar in this neck of the woods.
Something like these:
The idea would be to fix them to the outer frame of 48sheet billboards (6.1m x 3.05m) to enable easy removal & replacement of a one piece graphic with a longer term durability than regular blueback paper but whilst still leaving the billboard available for paper graphics if short term ads required.

I once bought a very similar looking frame from Kestrel Signs in Birmingham I think. They manufacture frame aluminium section.

Hi Steve,
Thanks & Yes you are correct, they do & funnily enough I only very recently dealt with them regarding fitting a new face to one of their frames over here. It’s actually a great system they have. Very simple & effective.
The problem is that their frames are all pretty thick. The thinnest they do as far as I’m aware is 90mm which is way to chunky for what I’m looking for. It really would need to be 30-50mm max.I might give them a quick call in the morning & see if they can do anything less but it doesn’t look like it.

Just been on the phone to KSUK & as I thought, the thinnest profile frame they do is 90mm.
So has anybody else come across a low profile snap frame style spring tension banner system like above?

Have you seen the spirit flex with cover plate. It’s not got springs but might work for you.
It’s the CC profile which you can use the cover with.

Hi Andrew, I’ve used the F profile before which works the same way & although it does work & is indeed extremely low profile I did find it quite fiddly to install banners into when alone. It was also indoors & on a slightly smaller unit. I imagine on a breezy day (it’s almost permanently windy at this particular location in the West of Ireland!!) with a 6x3m banner it could be somewhat interesting! :yikes:
But thanks for the idea, I just re-visited the Spirit Displays website & stumbled across the TruckSkinz system which actually looks perfect & then discovered that they have another side to the business called Big Message Media who specialise in billboard frames!! :smiles: So just put an email into them for further info.

We do a lot for the billboard game. What we are fitting is prismaflex storm flex. In theory one man install for 48 sheet. But not slimline.
We’ve been very busy installing the walk in boxes lately for all the big players in the market.
If you ever need a hand or advice give me a call.

Cheers for that. It’s a great little system Andrew!!, Certainly beats up & down ladders with sheets of corriboard & a drill!!!
I’ll certainly look into that as an option. I suspect it’s not a cheap system to install initially though? Are there any suppliers of it in Ireland?
-
No suppliers in Ireland. The company that had the agency went under.
Not sure of the price. Client is supplying and we are just fitting.
We are fitting one next week. Will let you know how it goes.

That’s a shame. Hopefully someone else may take it up in time if there’s a demand.
Are you retro fitting to a billboard?
-
Not this time but have with on other styles of banner systems. We recommend putting a new billboard up underneath. If for planning reasons it’s getting refit to an existing board.
Billboard’s generally only last 5-7 due to the materials used. Fixing to old and rotten board leads to bigger problems.

Yes the first couple I’m looking at are brand new, only up a week or so & further ones to go up in future. Having said that there are also a few I do on the side of cattle sheds that are WELL past their sell by date!!!! [DIZZY FACE]
